Interview with a Hero
Amber Winslow: Hello I am Amber Winslow. Throughout Paragon City we see self sacrafices made everyday. The recognition for these sacrafices are far and few between. Paragon City is home to many of our heroes both young and old. Today we will have the chance to meet and talk with one of the Heroes of the City.
Amber Winslow: I am standing here in Atlas Park at the stairs of City Hall. Today I am joined by one of the many heroes that protect this city, Phase of Echoes. Hello Phase. I can call you Phase right?
Phase: Yes, Phase is fine.
Amber Winslow: Tell me Phase. How does having all this crime in one place make you feel?
Phase: My heart aches when I think about the vile corruption that plagues our beloved city...
For many years now I and tens of thousands of superpowered beings have fought endlessly to remove the stench of crime from our streets. Many lives have been taken and given along the way. Too many lives...so many good people have become victims in wake of evils plans.
Amber Winslow: When you say \"evils plans\" exactly what evils have been the hardest on this city?
Phase: First that comes to mind is the Rikti Invasions. They can attack at any given time and when they do the results are usually devastating. Which creates another problem. While we are warding off the Dropships and Ground Troops other villains take this opportunity to move forward with their plans. This causes our attention to be divided between the Rikti and whatever else takes place at that time. Thankfully we have had enough among us to divde and eliminate both occurances.
Amber Winslow: Who are the biggest \"opportunist\"? Who is usually the thorn in your side while fending off an invasion?
Phase: Any of the so called "Factions" are capable of popping up. It's almost like a combind effort between the Rikti and the others. So to answer your question, any of them would qualify as the opportunist.
Amber Winslow: Are there any plans in action to stop the Rikti Invasions? Is there a way to stop them?
Phase: I know many of Paragons greatest scientist have been researching and gathering data. Several of the scientist are researching the previous large scale attacks that took place 4 years ago. There has not been a definitive way to rid ourselves of the Rikti as of yet, and we may not. Our first goal is to make them less of a threat by trying to determine "when" these attacks might be.
Amber Winslow: How many of the Supergroups in Paragon are involved with this research? How has your Supergroup been involved with the detouring of the Rikti?
Phase: All of the Supergroups that I am familar with are giving support to the scientist by assisting with the research, and providing pieces of scrap from the battles. I believe the scientist have called these "Salvage" pieces. The Echoes of the Fallen have gone as far as opening our base up to the public to be used as a bunker during attacks. We also have some brilliant minds within our group that is involved with some testing and experiments on the salvage pieces that are collected.
Amber Winslow: Seeing how these attacks not only effect Paragon City, but the Rogue Isles as well, would you be willing to defend the Isles if needed?
Phase: Of course. There are some good,innocent people that unfortunately live on the Rogue Isles. Granted the majority of the population there are low lifes, the innocent should not suffer. The Rikti are a common threat to us all. I have myself have been involved in the Rikti War Zone and have had several teammates that are "Villains" from the Isles. Along with the Vanguard we have taken many great strides against the Rikti.
Amber Winslow: Paragon has many \"visitors\" daily from the Rogue Isles; many of which you have stopped yourself along with others from the Echoes of the Fallen. Is there anyone particular that the Echoes are looking out for?
Phase: The past 2 years we have noticed a lot more banks getting robbed and neighborhoods that are vandelized. With doing whats right sometimes not everyone can see the good for what has been done. I could name off 15-20 we monitor for daily, but overall anyone that is not part of the Paragon community and is causing mayhem or chaos is what we look for. Besides everyone has an enemy somewhere, no need to make it public.
Amber Winslow: Is there anything you would like to address before we go?
Phase: Take into concideration of your actions. Think about how your decisions or actions will effect those around you. Sometimes you may not mean to hurt someone, but can do so easily with the wrong words. Be good to your loved ones. Remain open minded and be willing to meet them half way. All to often we get side tracked in the world around us and we fail to make time for one another. Always remember to make time. With the dangers in our world and the sickness that the society is riddled with you can not take anything for granted. Missed opportunties are never given back...
