I was wandering around on the CoH official boards and I noticed some people's opinions about Frozen Aura. It was fairly decent, until I noticed that they were suggesting to add damage to it. Not the devs, but people who think Frozen Aura needs to have something going for it. This will cause it to act like Flash Freeze, damage then sleep. Then I realized this: If the devs nerf this, I'm so gonna die.
I have my build posted elsewhere on the boards so I won't repeat it all. But I have Ice Arrmor, Ice Mele, Arctic Mastery combined with Leaderships, Flight and Fitness. I focus on Frozen Aura, Freezing Touch and Block of Ice. Using Tactics to up my accuracy, and Fitness for obvious reasons. I finish it of with my armors, Horafrost, Hibernate and single target attacks like my Ice Swords with Build Up. My build uses FA to pin a mob while using my holds and other attacks to beat up my main target.
My death comes with a slight oversight: Frozen Aura stacks, Flash Freeze doesn't. In order for me to ensure my survival Energy Absorption drains end and def bonus from the sleeping mob while FA keeps them quiet. If it inflicts damage, the first sleep will be lost and it will only last for its new cycle instead of stacking enough to cover my hide if I've gotta Hibernate. The other downside is that there is a max hit number. I'm not sure what it is, but I know it isn't 30. I've manages to pin nearly 30 opponents in one spot with this only because it stacks, allowing it to alternate and grab new targets. This allows me to cycle my sleep through the mob effectively allowing me to hold off an insane list of opponents. If I can't do that, the least of my worries is an ally's helpful AoE.
FYI, if you don't know, since Frozen Aura acts within a tanker's set, it carries a taunt value. If it is broken by an AoE all of the awakened foes will hit me at the same time because I have their aggro. There is some glitch associated with it where my def ratings don't count as much if they are awakened before FA wears out. Because of that, I don't know of any healer in Paragon that'll save be from a massive mob hitting me at once.
Last bit: as far as I am aware, I coined Conscranker to describe this controllerisn scrappish tankish playstyle.
