Feel guilty much?

Ok so today I was following a 37 around, my poor 29 was in debt and she offered to help after watching me die at her feet. :)

After following her through Founders Falls for 1/2 hour I was out of debt, and feeling pretty guilty.

She didn't need my help. Didn't need me to heal her, only used my Recovery Aura a couple of times, and really would have done better without me.

So here I was debt free, but feeling guilty... I had just been power leveled. :(

I can't understand anyone feeling ok with this sort of tactic.Yes I was out of debt, and I was that much closer to my goal of reachin 30 before the update, but I don't feel very good about it. I didn't earn any of that xp. I just stood there and held down my little spot on the pavement.

In my opinion power leveling is the easy way to 40... if you feel ok with it more power to you... Me I'll be earning my xp the old fashioned way.

I honestly dont conceider this "power leveling" You ran around with her, you risked your life and even if she didn't need your heals or RA you still where right there. Even a level 37 can get into trouble in Founders Fall, and just because you didn't see her get into trouble, you would have ben right there to do all you could to help. Being a healer you sometimes have days/nights like this, and sometimes you heal your ass off!! But you shouldn't feel guilty in the least, just be thankful it was a smooth time.

I know what you mean. I have yet to be really power leveled, but I can see how that would not be so good. Plus I'd miss out on all the really cool missions.

I think its definitely a big of a grey area and for 1/2 hour to get out of debt I think its kind of a no harm no foul situation. To do it constantly for hours, days, weeks whatever. Thats something I could never feel right about for sure. I like the challenge of doing for myself.

Personally i got no problem with that if i was that level 37, My main character is similar to that person helping out the lower level and aiding ppl in their mission/TF.

Yes maybe you leached some xps off of this 37th level character. But in the long run, this character might benefit from it also. The faster you level, the sooner will come the time when you really pitch and help out when the help becomes needed. Someday you may just pull this character's butt out of a dire situation. And you might not have been there and able to do so, if you hadn't power leveled.

Honestly, the fact that you feel guilty says something about you and the way you play your character. I look at it this way. Sure, maybe you didn't help her much, but someday she might want your help with alt or maybe you'll level faster than her for awhile and she will want to group with you. Consider it her down payment on future services if you need to make it seem right.

What you did wasnt "Power Leveling" and I wouldnt give it a second thought. Would you feel guilty if a freind or higher level SG member helped you get out of debt? I wouldnt and you shouldnt either.

When I was street hunting in Talos , throu my mid to upper 20's, I used to see "Power Leveling" going on all the time. When I would go to sell DO's, I would see hero's of much lower level standing in the shop in the back. I would see them standing in the same place for hours. I started clicking on them to check them out. Every half hour or so, when I came back to sell they would have leveled. Even seen level while I was selling. Thats the kind of "Power Leveling" you should feel guility about. This could be fixed with a inactive logout timer, say 30 minutes. This would make this harder and also get rid of those jerks that leave their toon standing inna good spawn area for hours.

i would say for sure that was not powerlevling, you didn't even level out of it... and i consider power leveling those that stay in one place and aren't even where the fight is, you were there, taking the chance to get debt all over again, next to her.

you were just helped out, not powerleveled, and woo hoo you don't have debt.

as a side question, did you add her to your friends list? oh and did she sk you for this excursion?

I did add her to my firneds list, simply because I felt like I'd owed her something later on... maybe when I was a higher lvl and had my Phantasam I could be of mors use to her, And no she didn't sk me... I just follwed her and tried very ard not to aggro anyone.

It's nice to know that others don't see it a power lvling. I'm not a big fan of it, and there was attempt to try to use me as a lvling mule the day after with the 37 and the 14, that I later discovered I shouldn't hve been getting xp from. the 14's plan was to stand by the train, that's not exactally fun to me, so I went to the 37, thus dragging the 14 with me. He wasn't exactally happy about that fact, when I had to go afk for a while, they insisted I stayed logged on (as I said I'd be away for a fair amount of time, I was making dinner) so I set her on auto follow, I'm assuming he followed the 37 for maybe 1 or 2 mobs then said "I don't feel safe, I'm going to go stand somewhere." So even since I was attempted to be used as a Mule I can truly understand the cheap way of getting xp... I'm still looking into the potential bug in Brickstown. The mobs were more than 7 lvls above me, I should not have been getting xp.

Leeching

I've noticed when grouping my first toon that my build was gimped and felt guilty grouping. After some really good experiences grouping and positive feed back from team mates I just took it as a reason to try harder. The point isn't to out dmage, out heal or out control the idea is to have fun as a group and though your guilt is admirable you probably enhanced the enjoyment for the higher level player which is of real value. Yeah just leaching xp while afk is exploiting the game mechanichs but I'm not worried about it because the majority of the players I've found are more like you and want to carry their own weight.

when i was a lvl 9 i was power lvled and i did feel guilty about it but it was nice of him to do that for me and now when a much lower is walking around talos island and looking for a team i invite him and try to help him as much as i can.

There were a lot of times Batman didn't really need Robin. That doesn't mean he wasn't glad he was there, just in case. Leeching is hiding in saftey while someone does the work for you... this is a social game, I'd rather have someone with me.

Would teaming with a higher level healer had helped her any more? I don't think so. Would doing it be herself have been as much fun? Doubt it. If she wanted to solo you can bet that's what she would have been doing.

When I am playing I want to team. Doesn't matter if I am lower being SK'd by a big gun or I am SKing a lower level friend or if we are all about even. I play for the fun, and as long as my team mate is not hiding in saftey they can not be considered leeching.

Lets face it...no matter what class or lvl YOU CAN HELP SOME!! IF your healer and have buffs your alot more help than you think. If nothing else you cut down on down time. I've had the same situation with my earth/emp controller 10 lvls down. I could still hold minions and buff and heal him. I went afk and he ran into a similar fight and did noticably worse without me. Point being...if your there and contributiing any signifigant amount it really isnt power lvling because lets face it. They don't have the patience to lvl normally. They arn't even gonna help people they just want a free ride. Just enjoy having a bodygaurd now and then :P.

I agree, i never liked getting handouts in games. When Diablo II ruled my life i never liked power-leveling and i spent hours, days and weeks leveling my characters and the same can be said about CoH for me. If i earn debt i will work it off with a team my own level or exemp. down to help other lower level teams.

Power leveling is great! I mean though a higher level is assisting you its their way of passing the torch of helping a fellow hero!!! Now that you have been assisted you should assist someone else. Its not called "cheating" nor is it a "handout" its merely someone who has been in your shoes before. I know you feel guilty at first but then again i had someone who was level 40 assist me in powerleveling and one day they got into a lot of debt so i exemplard them and i got rid of theirs. Its fifty fifty if you look at it my way. Just "pay it forward" as i like to say.

Its very honorable of you to feel that way, but do you really think that 37 didnt know what he/she was doing? In a way, it was a gift of xp, just as some give away infl. or enhancements. Now you didn't say that you lvl'd during that time, you only spent 1/2 an hour, and you did help; at the very least you distracted the baddies. You didn't power level; you engaged in a generous debt erasure plan.
