The Archon cautiously knocked on a plain metal door. Although he had faced down myriad heroes on the streets of the city during his twenty years of service, the... creature in the next room terrified him more than facing Statesman alone.
"Enter, Siegram," came the mockingly human-like voice from the other side, filled with an essence that lurked hideously on the peripheral of the soldier's thoughts. Siegram didn't even wonder at its knowlege of his identity- such musings weren't healthy to any being. It had a way of ending those lines of inquiry in a matter that was never beneficial to the ponderer.
Gathering up his courage, Archon Siegram opened the unlocked door and walked into the office of his superior officer, Eclipse.

Darkpool sat alone, the rest of the heroes standing back to give him time to grieve. As he sat on the dock, he could see her cold face staring back with eyes that would never glow again. It was his fault, he should have protected her better. He was never strong enough, not the first time, not this time.
Rage began building up in his body. As the rest of the group looked on in wonder and fear, an aura of purest night began to surround his body. The same fire that he had called on once before now sprang unsummoned from his entire being.
His vision shifted, and he could see things in a new way. Everybody else seemed to be faint and indistinct. Yet not everything was dull- off in the distance, he could see a darkness that tugged at his very being. It was as if a major part of his essence lay there, calling to him.
Before anybody could react, Darkpool- shifted. With the noise of a loud explosion and a blast of energy which knocked them all to their feet, he made an instantanious change into something which the onlookers had never seen before. Krygon later described it as a squid-like alien creature made of pure darkness that floated in the air for a few moments before flying off at unimaginable speed towards the secret Council base.

While his two cellmates debated what to do with him, Alchemist reached out with his astral form. The intangible spirit glided through the halls of the prison complex untill he found the door he was looking for. Alchemist inwardly grinned. While the astral forms of other magicians may have no solid form, there was a ritual developed by a mad wizard of Mu which allowed his spirit form to interact with reality for limited amounts of time. Silently, the spirit entered the locked room and reached out.
Alchemist may have been blinded, but he had been able to adjust to the patterns of slight magic surrounding the people he was imprisoned with. Although slight, they provided a rough guide to discover what belonged to somebody. And in this room, he was able to find two things which felt strongly like the girl who had taken pity on him.
Alchemist's spirit body reached out and drug those objects back with it to the shadow realm. It was able to avoid any sort of mortal detection system and slip back into his body. When he awoke, the blinded sorcerer felt two objects in his hand that he immediately knew by touch.
"Excuse me, miss," he broke into the debate, "But would these, by any chance, belong to you?"
Alchemist held out Liz's pistols, complete with ammunition.

The android had finally led Thermablaze to one of the abandoned warehouses that cluttered the landscape of King's Row. Reluctantly, she tried the rusty door, only to find it locked. As she brushed the filth off of her hands, she looked at the robot with an expression of impatience.
"Well," she demanded, "What are you waiting for? Bust this thing down!"
"As you command, madame," came the neutral reply.
Thermablaze heard a strange sound coming from inside 409, sounding something like a flashbulb building up charge. A second later, a beam of pure energy shot out from his right hand, vaporising a hole roughly 6 feet in diameter straight through what looked like five walls and a Council Warcry Mark II. Several startled soldiers stared at the intruders, frightened hands quickly reaching for weapons before they were overwhelmed.
As flames wrapped themselves around the young actress's hands, she smiled inwardly. "At least this guy knows how to make an entrance!"
