Have a good read
Chapter 6
Robyn was pretty quiet, just enjoying the pace we were at. She gave me a nudge or a look down for a direction. I decided to ask something while flying.
“What’s with your family exactly? I’m not filled in.”
She told the condensed version about how her parents had divorced, (very sad, it seems most marriages end that way) and split the family. She said nothing else on the matter.
“If it bugs you, then you don’t have to talk about it.”
She said nothing. I began trying to think of a topic to think of when I had an idea. I heated myself up and some for her. I was fine with or without, being used to the cold. She however, doesn’t fly at speeds that can rip muscles of bone without protection, or ever try to without said protection. It hurt like a bitch.
She wiggled a little closer to me and smiled some before closing her eyes. This time would have been spent training myself for more speed, or how high I can fly up, but she was here. I didn’t mind much, training could be delayed. Because she had closed her eyes, I was pretty sure she was tired and just wanted to go home. Either that or she was enjoying the moment. I put myself in her shoes for a moment. She was in the arms of a genuine Super Hero, who she was friends with. She had almost been raped. She had danced very hard for some of the night. It was late. I’d be tired to. My stamina is not infinite as might be thought. It’s my body cells that keep my fighting or flying or whatever.
I was getting sleepy also. Having your energy drained and then taken back is not the same as keeping it in the first place, and a few days ago, I had nuked. Does anyone have any idea how much energy it takes to nuke something and only that something? I could have blown Canada herself off the map if I aimed it at the ground and tried to turn half of myself into energy. Hell, probably a lot of America too.
She opened her eyes after 10 minutes or so, and looked down. I looked too. There were a lot of cop cars driving around.
“Ok, where to now? Left, right, what?”
“It would be down, but the cops are around.”
“Probably looking for me. I can set you down and look normal and follow you around.”
“Thanks.”
So we landed, and I took of my shields, heat, and costume. They might know me, but I bended the light around my head to make my hair a different color, more blondish. I had her judge how much I could go before it looked unnatural. I then changed the way my eyes and skin looked. I bent my knees a little bit to make me look shorter. I made light turn reflective and looked at myself. I had no clue who was looking at me. I let the light go and had a thought.
“Hey Robyn, you got any local Heroes who fly,” I was hoping to imitate them and drop her off.
“Lady Moth?”
“Never mind”
We walked the last block to her home, and turned the corner to her street, we were amazed, or at least I was, at how many cops there were.
“Don’t act like you have a single thing to hide.”
“Duh!”
We walked down the sidewalk, and before we could make it all the way, were “greeted” by an officer.
“And where have you been, Little one?”
“Clubbing,” she said defiantly.
“Right…”
After a few minutes of this, she seemed to be getting annoyed, so I acted. I wanted to get back to Kim anyway. I looked the man straight in the eye and said
“If we didn’t do anything, why aren’t you leaving us alone?”
“Because it’s my job to make sure that girls stay safe.”
“It’s also your job to make sure everyone stays safe. We didn’t do anything illegal, so go away.”
“Say that-” I cut him off by draining a significant portion of his energy from his legs. He almost collapsed. We walked on. I returned whatever I took from his legs. We got to her door, and Robyn turned and gave me a hug.
“Thanks a lot Tim!”
I smiled. She was sharper than I had thought, she remembered to use my fake name.
“Anytime Robyn.” I said, deepening my voice ,“But call me Killa.”
