Last part for now, maybe when I’m done putting all this up, part two will be done and ready to be put on. Dang...this part is short. Hopefully, chapter 10, 11, 12, and 13 will be up soon. I think chapter 12 or 11 takes up two pages in Microsoft word with size 10 font, so it'll be a little read.
Chapter 9
We got back without any incident. While inside, I rushed to the bathroom, for…nature’s call. When I was finished, I decided to spy again. I put my ear on the door, and listened closely. My efforts were rewarded.
“…ou land him?!” That sounded like Robyn, because she was almost yelling, and that’s how her voice sounded.
“I’m not gonna tell you.”
“Well, did you two really…”
“Maybe.”
“Enough of that kind of talk, what do you think about him?” This was what I was hoping for, finding out what Kim’s diary had in it.
“You first.” Damnit!
“He’s, well, cute. A very nice guy, and real caring.” Not a bad description.
“Try living with him and keeping that opinion.” That didn’t sound too promising.
“Well, tell me now, how do you feel about him?” This was it, the moment of truth!
“I think….if he asked me out, I’d accept.” My mind was shot, in a good way. She liked me! If I were not so happy, I might have realized she might have tried to tell me before when I woke her from her nightmare. Or that she had some ulterior motive to what we did in the car. Screw that, I had a girl who liked me, and not for being Super-Powered! I chose this time to exit, planning my way to make this work in the best possible way I could.
“What’d I miss?”
“I was just telling Robyn what I thought about you.” I looked from her, to Robyn. No one said a word.
“And I don’t get to know, of course.”
“Of course not!” said Robyn. I could have played it off on Kim, saying how if she didn’t want to tell me, then it was probably embarrassing. What was embarrassing to girls about boys? How they feel, and if it’s a lot, then they’re not going to tell you. Usually. If you tell them first, then they usually say how they feel back.
“Ah well, none of my business then. So is Robyn staying?”
“No, I have to go to my,” She grimaced ,” Job.”
“I think I’m gonna patrol a little bit, anyway. I’d like to get a few hours worth of training in to keep myself in peak condition.”
“But you took out that ogre thing!”
“That was not even close to how I train.”
“Oh.”
I walked with Robyn outside, donned my costume, and before I could take off, I was interrupted.
“Hold on a second.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t try to take advantage of her, I’ll beat you to a pulp if you do, powers or not.”
I laughed and flew off saying “Don’t worry about it…”
This was what I had been missing so much. Flying around at high speeds, just having fun. After twenty minutes of high speed training, I noticed a group of 4 heroes traveling through the city. It seems my time had come to go out. I was going to do so in style, maybe with a bit of pizzazz. I rushed down to the ground so fast, my shoes almost came off. I landed away from people in the local park. They came quickly. I got out of my dusty and somewhat large crater and looked the one in front in the eye.
“WHO ARE YOU TO…oh, hi guys.” This was embarrassingly unexpected. It was my old toon, come to take me out. It made sense, they knew about my powers and strategies better than anyone else.
“Hey B, how you been?!” yelled Silas.
“Damn man, we missed you.” said End Zone.
“We’re not gonna fight you Z,” Said Byte.
“We came to tell you that…” Freeaties stopped. They all became quiet.
“We, oh damnit, I can’t say it. Someone else tell him his ‘Good News’”
Silas stepped up. He never had much in the ways of fears.
“We quit the Corps.”
I was dumbstruck. My old toon had such a bond with me that they did the unthinkable. They exiled themselves.
“Oh umm. Wow, thanks a ton guys. You can’t realize how much this means to me. I’ve made a few friends up here, wanna go meet her?”
“Her?” said End, “I didn’t know you had much on the ways of women Z, you never hit on Byte or Free over here.”
They both seemed exaggeratedly disappointed.
“Well F$#@ you too End.” I said with a cheesy grin on my face. “Follow me.” I took off, flying for Kim’s house.
