Location: Steel Canyon
Contact: Everett Daniels
Minimum Level: 9
Indoor: Yes
Difficulty: 3/5
Description:
Everett will say, "There's been a Clockwork attack on the university campus! The engineering department was hosting a robotics seminar, and several of the speakers were kidnapped by those strange Clockwork robots. I need you to rescue those scientists from the Clockwork, (your toon). Paragon city won't lose her greatest minds on my watch."
This mission is not part of a story arc.

After you accept the mission, Everett will say:
| QUOTE | | Watch out for the big Clockwork robot known as (random named boss). From what I understand, he's pretty dangerous. |
Your nav bar now says "Defeat (random named boss) and its minions." It also tells you what zone to go to. The entrance is usually, but not always, near the university campus in Steel Canyon. I've seen it in Perez Park just one time and Atlas Park a few times.
The map is a generic sewer map. Clockwork are spread more or less evenly throughout the sewer. Most are the same level, with a few groups of Clocks one level higher at major junctions.
There are two things you have to do to finish the mission.
First of all, there are five captured scientists randomly placed in here somewhere, each being guarded by two or three Clockwork guards. The higher level Clocks are never guarding a scientist and you don't have to defeat any of them if you can sneak past them.
The only scientist who is not dressed up as a nurse is the Dean of Engineering. When you rescue him, you get a clue. It says:
| QUOTE | The dean's story
When you rescued the Dean of Engineering, he told you:
'This may sound crazy, but I think they wanted revenge! The five of us hold patents for the most advanced robots in use today. I think the Clockwork King is angry that we're receiving credit for our work, while he's regarded as a madman! |
The other thing you have to do is defeat the named boss and all the Clockwork in its room.
Once you have defeated the named boss, cleared his room and rescued all 5 scientists, the mission should be over. If it isn't, then one of the Clocks got away from the boss's room. You have to find the runner to complete the mission. There are also usually a few places in the boss's room where a lone Clock could be hiding, so look behind and on top of everything. The boss's Gears don't count toward the mission, though; you can still complete the mission without finding every Gear.
Return to Everett when you are done and he will say:
| QUOTE | | So, the dean thinks the Clockwork King is jealous of the scientists he kidnapped. I suppose that makes sense. After all, the King has produced some of the most ingenious robots on the planet. If he hadn't retreated into villainy, he'd probably be givne a Nobel prize! |
