This mission is not part of a story arc. It's purpose is to introduce you to the hazard zone, Boomtown.

When you accept this mission, Everett will say:
| QUOTE | | I don't know why they do this, but the Clockwork are becoming more of a menace every day. Watch out for the huge monster, Babbage!" |
The first place you have to go is Steel Canyon. The security chief is standing right outside the gate to Boomtown. Talk to him and he will tell you:
| QUOTE | | Here is some info on Boomtown. (Your hero), I need you to stop the Clockwork! You could start looking for them in Primer or the Cannonade. |
The info he hands you is in your clue bag. It says:
| QUOTE | | Baumton was the city's first marketplace, where tradesman and farmers went to sell their wares. After the Rikti invasion, people started calling it Boomtown, because the devastation reminded them of a bomb crater. It's pretty dangerous. If I were you, I wouldn't go in without a few other heroes for backup. The place is infested with those Clockwork robots. They look like toys, but they cause plenty of havoc by stealing bits of machinery and metal from all over. Even worse, a giant Clockwork monster called Babbage prevents any pacification of the zone. Be especially careful of him. |
If this is your first visit to Boomtown, the map will be black. You only have one landmark to help you find a Clock neighborhood - the sewer entrance. Head that way and you'll find Clocks before you get there. If these are too low level for you, keep going. The higher level clocks are in the NW corner. Expect to pass plenty of Trolls and Council on your way. You only need to defeat 10 Clocks.
The high difficulty rating is because the groups tend to be a bit large for some toons to handle alone and because it's a very far run from the hospital. With a large team, this mission is trivial.
When you are done, return to Everett. He will tell you:
| QUOTE | | We used to laugh at the Clockwork. Not anymore. Well done, (your toon). |
Hopefully, the XP for this mission will be raised to 1/2 or full standard soon. This is the only one I know of that is 1/3 standard, so it's probably bugged. |
