Statesman Task Force

clear gif
Independence Port
Statesman
Statesman Task Force
Location:Independence Port
Main Enemy:Arachnos
Archvillain:
Level to Attend:45+
Minimum Teammates:8 (total)

"Are you ready to take down the most powerful villains in the world? Are you ready to do the duty Statesman has set out for you? Gather your friends and allies, and good luck to you. Talk with Statesman on the new Longbow boat that is in Indy Port, just west of the hospital, and begin your journey.

1) Disrupt Web Factory
take out Sands, 45 web pieces

You start from Statesman by going to the sub right next to him. Your first mission is in the Web portion of Grandville. Destroy 45 web pieces (long, large tubes) to summon Sands. Clear out the front area, then head down the tunnel to reach more. Once 45 pieces are destroyed (you're usually on the factory floor), sands will summon. After the cutscene, ambushes will arrive. Don't just stand there. They are near infinite if you don't head back up to Sands. Take the tunnel, it's safer. Sands can summon some arachnos drones, but these aren't really a challenge. Take down Sands, and mission complete.

2) Defeat Dr. Aeon
Defeat Korol, Defeat Magus Mu'Drakhan, Defeat Shadow Spider, Defeat Viridan, get home

Mission 2 is from Peregrine Island. Suffer through a cutscene, then follow Aeon through the portal. You end up in the future. After another cutscene (funny the first two times or so you watch it), take a look around, and find the elevator. Right across the hallway is a hospital, so if you die, hit the hosp. Once you take the elevator, most people will recognize where you are. You're in a future Atlas, but it's more like Recluse's Victory, the lvl 40-50 pvp zone. Take down the AVs in this order: Magus Mu'Drakhan first at golf, then Korol under atlas statue, followed by Shadow Spider at bravo then finally Viridian north of city hall. Avoid street hunting, just jump to the next AV. Once all are down, go back into the building to the locked door to get to the portal home.

3) Take the Nexus from the Thorns

Next up is back to the sub in Indy Port. This is your standard Villain respec mission, complete with finding the right door to enter the indoor part of the mission, plenty of circle of thorns, an actual full team of 8 villains running the respec mission (pve, sorry), and the tree room. You could fight, but it's better to stealth. The villain team is in the water room, after you go through the multi-path down ramps. I've never been on a team to fight them, but from what I hear, they are hard to kill. Skip to the tree room. From here, standard tree room strategy. Clockwise (or counterclockwise) around the room, take down the Circle of Thorns FIRST. Then the vines, then finally the tree. The vines can respawn if you take too long, so be quick about it. A possible strategy is to split the team up. 4 people go clockwise, 4 go counterclockwise. Just make sure you all watch the tree itself. If you can see the nexus, it can see you, and it means to kill you. It can 2-shot just about anything short of a scrapper or tanker, so watch it. Once all 88 vines are down, then attack the Tree itself. Standard level 50 AV. Once that is down, someone touch the nexus to end the mish. WARNING: The person who clicks the nexus will get a temp reward needed for the next mission. This person needs to be a melee, someone with a good connection. Recommend the tank click and get the temp.

4) Capture Dr. Aeon
Find real security chief, Defeat Wretch, Defeat Silver mantis, Ice Mistral, Barracuda, Dr. Aeon.

We mean it this time. The mission is using the sub again, so you don't have far to go. First off, find the real security chief. There are lots of security chief? and one is the real one to defeat. Each summon 2 waves of ambushes at 50% life. Until you find the correct chief, keep fighting. There are close to a dozen at least around the zone, so keep looking. It is completely random which one is the right one. Once you've got the key, get inside the building to fight AVs. First four floors are one of the 4 AVs other than Aeon, random order. Could get Barracuda first, could get Ice Mistral first. Each AV comes with mobs that are part of that AV's clan. We know that each AV is linked to a patron and a part of arachnos troops. These troops make up the mobs with the AV. Nothing tough, just watch the mu and fortunatas. Once you've gotten through those 4 floors, 5th has Aeon and his multiple clone EBs. Ignore the EBs, focus on the AV. When he calls out that he's turning on his temporal shield, hit him with that temp power you got from the last mish to make him vulnerable. Kill him and the EBs die. The EB's respawn, so if you're thinking about it, don't.

5) Stop Lord Recluse!
Defeat Recluse's Inner Circle!, Defeat Lord Recluse!

You're finally there, the final mission. Take the copter next to Statesman to enter the mish. Most people who have City of Villains will recognize that you're in Grandville, where the ferry drops you off. First, clear along the main pathway heading north, for some pulling/running room. At the very least, take out 2 mobs that are the closest to the patron AVs. Next is the tricky part, pulling the AVs. You may get 2 in a pull, or all 4, so watch it. A blaster with some sort of stealth on him is able to pull one alone usually. Take them down, and take your time. Usually teams I've been on sweep from Ghost Widow to Scirocco to Mako, leaving Black Scorpion for last.

Tricks for the patrons:

1) Ghost Widow has a nasty melee ranged heal Area of Effect. Anybody that does not need to be in melee range (read blasters, controllers, defenders), get out of there. Only ones that should be right next to Ghost Widow are the tanks, scrappers, and pets. Use whatever regen you brought (rad, kin, dark) and pound away. Eventually you'll get her.

2) I tend to treat Scirocco similar to Ghost Widow. He also has some nasty Area of Effects (AoEs), so treat him like Ghost Widow.

3) Mako seems to be the hardest patron for most people, because of his elude. Once he gets down to about 15% life, he'll hit elude. This elude gives him massive defense, lasts a long time, there is no end drain when it turns off, and is ready quickly. Hopefully you have people with tactics from the leadership pool on the team. Three stacking of it is usually good enough. You may have problems with 2 or less. Also, hopefully you have Geas of the Kind Ones accolade from Croatoa, this gives an +acc boost for a full minute. Very helpful on Mako.

4) Black Scorpion is your basic brute type enemy. A few AoEs, but nothing as nasty as others. Just pound him.

After the patrons are down, you will be awarded the diplomat badge. Next up, clear some of the mobs around the Recluse statue, and take down the flier. The Arachnos Flier cannot be brought down by -fly, so just jump and smash. The Flier does spawn +1 bosses, but these aren't all that hard. Taking down the Flier will award Heat Seeker.

Finally, Lord Recluse himself. This is where team build is at its most important. First, you need a tank with taunt. Stones are of course the most wanted, but Invuls will do very well as well. Pair the tank with an empath. The tank will taunt and pull Recluse away from the 4 towers, with the empath healing. Recluse is usually pulled towards his statue, down behind a corner. The remaining team members will attack the towers, usually in the order of Red, Green, Yellow, and finally Blue.

Red boosts Lord Recluse's damage to near 1-shot levels, even for a tank.
Green keeps healing Lord Recluse for near 3000 hp every few seconds.
Yellow is a massive +acc boost for Lord Recluse, and is also like a +def to him. Once Yellow is down, you can hit him more, and he misses more.
Blue is debateable. The working thought is that Blue boosts endurance recovery, and gives him a sort of speed boost. It has also been seen, when on, to boost his bane spider summoning power (Purple dawn) to massive amounts. Leave if you wish, teams have done it both ways, up and down.

When each tower reaches 50% life, they will summon arachnos repairmen. These lvl 45 enemies will try to jump to the top of each tower and heal them. KILL THEM. With just one on the tower, that tower can hit 100% life in less than 10 seconds. Use AoEs on the tower to kill the repairmen and continue to hurt the towers. Watch out that if the repairmen fix one tower completely, they will move on to other damaged/destroyed towers. Once all 4 towers are down, no more repairmen can be spawned.

And now, finally, you can fight Lord Recluse. Treat him like Ghost Widow, stay at range if possible, but keep close to each other for heals. At roughly 20% life, he will begin to summon level 54 boss level Bane Spiders. A LOT of them. Keep target on Lord Recluse. Hopefully, you have someone with some AoE knockback or knockdown (footstomp or maybe a storm defender/controller) to keep them away. If Recluse falls, the Banes will die instantly.

For defeating Lord Recluse, you earn Peerless.
For finishing the Statesman TF, you earn Saved the World, and your choice of a synthetic Hami-O, a rare recipe, or a simple Single Origin Enhancement.

congratz!
