ok so gone are the days of saying in broadcast, lvl 38 scrapper lft, or what ever. usually now me and most people i think just use search findsomeone on a mission around your lvl and ask if there is room.
now just lately this seems to get alot of sorry im about to log off. this is starting to annoy me. cos there about to log does this mean the whole team is logging? if its a 7 man team are they going to suddenly disband cos this person leaves.
anyone else get this.

When ever I ask for help I hate it they they tell me that they r logging off but after 10 minute or after I found help and finished the mission that same person is still on.

first off this should be under rant and rave, secondly on the other end or the spectrum, I hate when I'm contiunually bothered by people asking "Do you have room on your team?" and the times I said yeah, those people suck. They're usually the first ones to cause a group wipe and the first ones to bail after it happens. So when people start botrhering me with "Is there room on your team?" I usually will ignore them, or tell them no. Most of the time I play with my SG, and no one else, and we have a set way we play. We know each other, and know how each other will play. We don't want or need anyone unknown breaking up our groove. If we are looking for someone, we'll ask. When I look for a team, I'll put up my looking for team message, or I'll start recruiting.

I've never got "Sorry I'm about to log" when I ask someone to join their team. Sometimes they are kind enough to say "I'm logging in 10 min...maybe you can join when I log".
But yah...logging is good excuse if YOU don't want to join a team. Not when you don't want somebody to join your team...

I find it hilarious when I ask someone to join my team and hey give me the Sorry I'm about to log, so I go on my merry little way, but like 20-30 minutes later I go to search again for more people... who do I see? The same exact person that I've asked to join my team is still on. Hell I even ran into the person while going to another mission, its just funny.
I use that excuse too, I use it because whenever I say 'I just wanna solo.' they shoot back at me with 'Hey I'm really good.' and all that horse poopies. Some people just don't get it that I'm a level 50 Tank, I don't NEED you, I don't WANT you... so go away. No PL's for you. I don't know about anyone else,though I'm sure we're all on the same page with this, but I respect people who say they want to solo, that's fine... rock on with your bad self... GL, HF.

Yeah i get that a lot these days, im gonna log crap. People should not lie and just say no if they dont want to team. doesnt mean everyone is using this to avoid teams they are really loggin some times. Its so hard to find new people these days. Everyone wants to play with only their friends or SG members. Im not saying thats a bad thing but its always good to meet new people. Lets be open minded :D everyone makes mistakes.

OK,ok.......I admit it.............I'm......a logger......
There, I SAID it!
For some reason people want to "join" my solo team right when I pop out the elevator on my final floor with about 5-10 min to go in a mission I've been wrestling with for the past hour or so. It's time to go to bed, or I got to fix my grandaughter dinner or get ready for work & I want to go sell, level & log and here I am now haveing to take the time to explain all this to someone I don't know so.....
"Sorry, just about finished with this mish, (at this point the mob thats been chaseing me comes around the corner), going to log as soon as I'm done."
Now, at this point I would expect that I have given some kind of "clue" to the person who asked as to my position on the matter, (the mob has caught up with me now & I am fighting for my life), & I get:
"I'm a really good regen/martial arts scrapper etc. etc,,,,,(2 minions & a Lt. are beating the snot out of me but I can see the glowie in the distance, if I can just take out 1 more minion.......), at this point I'm really not wanting to carry on a long winded conversation about the situation.
This thread DOES belong in the rant section.....
I AM going to log. After I'm finished I might have to cross a couple of zones so I can sell & hit one of my contacts then go to where I'm going to meet an SG mate in about 12 hrs. This may take an additional 5-10 min. before I actually log so I wouldn't be suprised if you were to see me around town after the mission. If I was REALLY cruel, I would have said "Sure....(heh heh).....Heres an Inv."
Then you could travel across the zone, enter the mission, go up 3 elevators & see "MISSION COMPLETED", follow me across 2-3 zones, wait for me to sell, then go find a contact, get a mish, then jump up on the Green Line roof & look you straight in the eye & say.......
"GOTTA LOG NOW...........Cya!"

2 things
1 you have missed the point totally. point is who cares if you happen to be logging as im asking to join a team not a solo person. just cos 1 person logs does this mean the whole team is. if you have 1 min left of the mish can i not do more?
2nd thing is if you are having trouble with 2 minions and and lt? you can claim to be a good regen anything scrapper.

One thing I will say is that I never invite people who ask to join when I'm in the middle of a mission. If you want to be in a team, start one yourself and ask if people want to join you. Asking if you can join a team thats in the middle of a mission always seems like a really rude interuption to me.
Maybe its because I solo a lot and I don't like people trying to horn in on my alone time. I've also had several bad experiences where I try to be truthful and say I don't feel like teaming with anyone or going through the hassle of getting someone else integrated into my teams style of playing and I get a lot of argueing and/or insults in return.

This is from an invitee to a mission point of view, but... It is easier to just say that you have to log than it is to explain why you don't want to team. I usually do log after I say I will and use it as a chance to play an alt. :-p
Some teams are not worth the effort. i was on a team with several wastes of human skin last night. They got me killed three times by stringing everything out and activating more mobs than we could handle, and then expected me, as the only healer, to keep up with them all and heal them. The final straw came when we did one of my rescue missions, and one guy went on ahead and rescued the hostage, and then ran off to fight stuff and got the hostage killed and an automatic mission failed.
This irritated the hell out of me, as I hadn't failed a mission with my main before, and I wanted to keep that string of successes going, but when we were all booted out of the mish and several of my so-called teammates were laughing about how funny it was to see the hostage drop, it really ticked me off big time. Obviously, I quit then.
All told, I racked up more debt in those three missions than I got xp. Worthless.
And the final point of this is, this is why I may no longer team with people I don't know or haven't teamed with before. It's hard enough getting my healer to 35, much less 50, without having to earn debt badges quicker than levels.

That said, how could you miss things like "solo team", (no such thing), and when I was talking about the fighting with 2 minions & a Lt. I did not mean I was the Regen/Srapper and..........

Honestly, I don't like it when people ask to join my team. I always think, "Do I know this guy?" I don't feel that the days of "Lvl X Such-and-such LFT" are gone. I actually use that every time I log on. If no one gets in touch, I just make my own team. I think it's poor etiquette to ask to join a team that's already in a mission...If they needed you, they would've asked beforehand.
As for the single person logging off effecting the entire team issue, it's pretty simple. Those people are just blowing you off because they don't want you on their team. It doesn't really have to make much sense. They just want you to leave them alone. Eh...It happens. Either way, good luck with the whole teaming thing.

I hate those players too.
I actually had this one guy tell me for a team. I joined up and asked him what mission he wanted me for since he was 10 levels below me (and me being suspicious that there was no one else signing up for this team). He then asked me to Power Level him. BZZZT! Sorry. I don't PL people.

This is EXACTLY how I feel Mal. If I wanted a person I would have looked for, and invited them. If it's someone I teamed with on another group that had invited me, I'll usually let them team, IF WE NEED THEM! Just because we play the same game does not mean I'm under obligation to team with anyone out there. I am definitely not. I solo a lot, and if I need a hand on a mish, I'll look through the list at whoever is looking for a team, I'll talk to them first and see if they want to team, then I'll send an invite, and I expect the same courtesy back. Like you, I consider it rude to be constantly harangued with "Can I team with you? Do you have room for a so and so blaster/scrapper/controller?" When I look for a team I will always post "Lvl $$ tank/blaster/scrapper LFT!"

Ok, I got an idea. From now on, if you want to blow someone off and not invite said person to your team, instead of saying, "Uhhhhh... I'm about to log" say this:
"Sorry, the team is full."
But that may be lying and we're heroes so we don't do that, so say this instead:
"No, we like our team the way it is."
Simple and to the point.
Of course, that might annoy some people. Oh well, who cares anyway.....

why do i still get the feeling everyone is totally missing the point, i dont think its that people dont want to team with you, its that they are actually about to log, and tell you this, what annoys me is that they seem to think because they are about to log the whole team is about to log and there would be no point in you joining the team. as for people who always solo and people who refuse to invite people. you lot f**king p**s me off even more. i think its a sh*tty way to play an mmorpg, the whole point of a game like this is to team with new people and people at all. if you wanna solo find an offline game. but teaming is part of this one and its people like that who make me turn my game of after 30 mins of not being able to find a team.

No, I think everybody gets your point, but none of them would like you to be on their team. The "i am about to log" is an excuse to avoid further discussion. I agree that this game (and any MMORPG) is about teaming, but if players have a team going, they apparently were happy they way they were, otherwise they would have invited more. Personally, I only ask solo players to join me. And I get plenty of "i am about to log" responses too. Which is fine with me. Probably they are not logging, but it is their loss, not mine. I'll look for somebody else. I have never trouble getting a team together. The few times that somebody asked to join my existing team, they turn out bad players. I am just wary of inviting them. Sorry to hear it works out bad for you, Jinxy. But I think it is more to blame on bad players than solo players.

In defense of the eternal soloers, I'll say this:
For some, soloing is the only way they can play. One friend of mine logs on from his store, so he must solo because there are times when there are a rush of customers and he has to stop in the middle of what he's doing and handle business. I think a team would get more upset if one of their members kept having to go afk in midmission, or whatever. This makes teaming for him near impossible, and so he solos almost all the time.
Another friend of mine plays during the day while her baby is napping. When the baby wakes up, she'll usually either have to log immediately or she'll have to play sporadically because her baby is more important than the game. Thus, she has to solo a lot, or she teams with people she already knows who understand what is going on.
Another guy I know is just a misanthrope and likes very few people and hates social interaction.
There are plenty of reasons why someone would only solo, and with the exception of the last guy I mentioned, for most of the ones I know it's more about being considerate and not leaving a team hanging than it is about not understanding the whole MMORPG concept.

nope, not the way it works. If someone tells you they are about to log, just accept it. Perhaps they are about to log in ten minutes or so. That's still 'About to log'. and like Phaedre (Sp?) said, the times people have invited others into a team that was pre-existing because that person spammed them with invite requests, odds are those people will turn out to be lousy players. I personally find it even ruder to kick someone from a team, unless they are obnoxious, and just intolerable to deal with. If they are a poor player, I will try to help them, instead of kicking them.
I suggest to you that you start trying to form teams around your level, and definitely continue to brodacast that you are looking for a team, instead of getting annoyed at those that do not want to take a chance on teaming up with a stranger who is asking them if they can join a pre-existing mission.
What I find annoying is the continued requests to join my pre-existing team from people I don't know.

Well we all have different opinions. Im kinda on jinxys side. I enjoy meeting new people and doing random pick up teams. Your not going to find a good player everytime you team. Give a guy a break when he ask to join a team that is already formed. He just wants to join a team. But i know one thing for sure, asking a person you dont even know to PL is really cheap.

OK, I get the point that at the bottom of this problem is that you want to team. This is not an unreasonable request.
I have also had problems finding a team at times, I do not always solo.
Perhaps the problem lies in the way that you present your requeat.
By sending a tell to someone in a mission you are somewhat blind as to that persons disposition at the moment. They may have just gotten engaged with a large mob or 2, (which is usually what happens with me, makes me think there is someone out there actually dispatching people to send me tells when they see I have my hands full). I am a slow typer & I really don't feel like getting into a discussion at the moment.
If the tell is sent in a manner that DEMANDS an immediate answer it, (at least in my case), will be considered as a rude intrusion & will promt an abrupt short negative response so that I can deal with the problem at hand.
In other words, don't put me on the spot where I have to answer you immediatly.
Instead put it in a way that does not OBLIGATE me to answer you.
Like: "Hi, I'm a level 30 Controler looking for a team, Please send me a tell at your earliest convenience if interested".
A tell like this I would precieve as non-intrusive as it gives me a choice to answer or ignore. I would feel more inclined to converse with you if it is at my liesure. Who knows, it might lead to a wonderful friendship.

Okay, bubba, I completely understand your frustration with teaming. However, playing an MMO is not an obligation to team. If you can name a console game or single player computer game that provides the same experience as CoH, then I'll say that you're being completely rational. Otherwise, you're just trying to vent your frustration about the perpetual lack of teams, but you're missing your "point" by a bit. A lot of people like to solo, and a lot of people don't like to get team request tells while they're in the middle of missions. It sucks a little, but it isn't a huge issue. If you want to team, then create one. It takes a bit, but you'll get a gang together and be on your way in a hurry.

ok granted when i typed that i was tying to think of an offline game that can live up to coh, simple answer i cabt now that being said, this is not as big a problem as i made it out to be. i mean i just ment that answer annoys me. but the amount of times it happened i could couunt on both hands. i just wanted to see if anyone else got this message. if i get a tell when on a team from someone looking for a team i will ask their lvl. (i dont care about AT usually) and if they are in range i pass on their name to the leader or invite them if it happens to be me.
the way i see it. i play this game to have fun thats why i still play my 50 and still do AV missions that i have already done. for the simple reason i enjoy playing. so if i happen to be on a team that hits my debt cap on my 50 or any hero for that matter i could care less.
anyway thats about all im going to say on this topic i will not be posting on it again.
ps. sorry for any angry comments i have made in this post.
