OK, I am in crisis as to what to name my defender and controller when I get my account back. I will give you some details as to what I want the names to be around.
Controller: This will be my main character. He is a Grav/FF, and he is Talshak the Mystic's (in the Hollows) twin brother. My current name for him is Tualshak.
Defender: This will be my second main. He is FF/Energy, and he specaializes in knockback (I will be slotting all of his attacks with at least 2 of them). His current name is Knockback King (SO LAME!!!! NEED HELP).

Good names are not that easy. I based my names on the story behind them. If they have a story, a name will come automatic. Your controller should not be too hard, since you already have a story. He is talshuk's brother. So a name in that same style would work best. Rantruk maybe?

How about Knockback Knight instead of Knockback King, its a little more rhyming.

I think something that rhymes or goes with Talshak without flat out seeming like a ripoff would be awesome. My goal when I make someone with a recogonizable name/story is for at least 1 person in every team to not get where it comes from (at least not right away). Here's some names I've come up with (sorry if I've stolen one from above, I'm not looking at it, I swear):
Shaltrak (I think that one was said)
Zoltrek
Xandak
Slathak
Althsak
Honestly, if you're going for a Talshak clone, then you're not gonna come up with the 100% original blockbuster kick-@$$ name since its based on someone who's already out there. Not to say you can't have fun, RP, and do your thing & still have tons of fun.
For the knockback guy, try some kind of variation on the idea, as "Mr. Knockback" or whatever is kinda plain and probably already taken...
Alternatives:
Thrust
Force
K.B. Ackman (Get it? KnockBAckman...hehe)
Backtrack
Throwback (And dress him in old, formerly "hip" clothes)
Crackback
KnockBlack (dress him in all black)
Hopefully one or more of these has struck your fancy. If not, then no hard feelings. Just remember that no matter what name you pick, you better like or you're gonna do what you said: remake the character or retire them. Good luck.

Finding a name is sometimes the hardest part, and then in some cases the sole reasom for a character's existance. I swear I'm going to have one of my Tonka Trux Scrappers make it into the 30's before I delete him and start over again!
Remember the names don't actually have to reflect the character's powers. They could also just be someone's name. Something like Brett Steel(just an example, probably better for a Scrapper or an AR Blaster.).

Repella is a nice name for the def. Thanks. As far as Tualshak goes, that is the nicest name I have heard for him yet. Yes, I'm afraid it must be a him, because HIS storyline says that his full name is Tualshak the powerful (strong). Because his brother, Talshak, is a mind controller, and his name is Talshak the Mystic, I thought Tualshak the Powerful (/Strong) would be a good name (though can't fit it in to a 15 character limit, so I will have to wait for level 15 to have the title of The Powerful Tualshak.

Actually, if it were possible to make an Energy/FF or FF/Energy villain, I would have had Repulsive Repeller be his/her name. But since that is NOT possible, I will just stick with Repella as his/her name (still have not decided gender yet)
NOTE: For all of the grammatically correct people out there who are just looking for opportunities to criticize my grammar (such as my teachers!!!), the word gender is incorrectly used (should be used when writing a book or writing papers, not when speaking), however, I dare not use the word I am thinking of on this site.

Side note A: As of issue 6, name length has been increased from 14 to 20 characters, so something like Tulshak the Powerful would just fit, by leaving out the 'a'. Tualshak the Strong fits fine.
Anyhow, my first thought on names for a knockback defender are:
Backblast
the 70's movie sounding Backhand Bouncer
the also 70's movie sounding Mister Momentum
more of the same Captain Velocity
or mix and match to taste.
Side note b: Thesaurus.com is a great place to go looking for synonyms like above, although they don't have 'knockback' as a word you can search for, and the closest one 'knock back' gets one all sort of drinking synonyms. :-p

Controller = Kyren the Mysterious
The FF/Energy is tougher as was said because there's the concept but no story.
The Surly Barkeep if you want to have fun with the "bouncer" type of tossing people around. This could be good with vairous text bind such as a knockback with a phrase like "That's enough out of you!" and "The trash goes out back!" or whatever a bouncer might say.
The Flight Instructor for the idea of teaching people to "fly" :)
Chuckly - Chuck as in throw, and chuckle because it makes you laugh.
Whopgurgle - Whop, the sound that the force makes when it hits them, gurgle, the sound they make when the force hits them
That's a start I suppose. It sounds like you're happy with the other suggestions, but I love naming things :)

i like the quantum mechanic, but i've seen a ton of khleds running around with quantum this or quantum that. i realize you wont be running a khled, but quantum is kind of played out.

CS Lewis once wrote a story in which there was a custom of giving twins the same name, but leaving out one syllable from the name for the younger twin. If you could use this method and make your toon the younger twin, Shak.
