I've been getting the feeling that I'm a fast leveler, but I'm not sure.
In my first month of play (May 2004), here are the major characters I played and the levels I reached with them
Jordan Yen (defender) - lvl 16
Alex Lord (scrapper) - Level 35
Maki Aikawa (tank) - Level 14
Kurotenshi (scrapper) - Level 13
Note that I went on no Task Forces with these characters because I didn't know enough about them at the time.
In my second two months of play (December and Feb of this year), I had this spread instead (only counting people over level 6):
Jordan - From 16 to lvl 42
Doctor Kev (mastermind) - Level 0-20
Greml - (mastermind) - level 0-14 (note that I did 12 levels with him in one day).
Also note that for Jordan, I discovered the love of badge hunting and task forces and did as many of both as I could. Anyway, It just seems to me that some people have been playing a long time and still don't have 50's while I have played a total of three months and have one character really close and another good runner-up. I expect when I start again in July, I'll hit 50 with Jordan pretty quickly.
So the question again is, is that fast leveling or is it pretty normal?

lets just put it this way jordan, I started playing in May 2005. I have played since then (less hours per week than most people) and my highest toon is a lvl 35 brute. I have a lvl 32 Def, and about a dozen toons between 6-16. I have always considered myself a slow lvler.

There are alot of variables in leveling. Biggest of them is amount of time playing per day/week/whatever.
I have in the past leveled so quickly that some of my peers don't even believe it. And now that I have some more experience with the game it's not even something I'm happy with. Irda leveled from 28 to 32 in an afternoon. That is something I will never do again. I have friends that build an alt and run it up to 15-18 in just a couple days then destroy it and make another.
So to answer your question I would say yes it sounds like you can or have leveled pretty quickly. But to offer some advice I gota say do you really want to?
With Irda, my main toon I missed nearly every temp power because I SK'd my way through most of the 20's and lower 30's. I have very few contacts because I wasn't running my own mis's. I don't do that anymore. It's particularly easy to speed level a healer... It's ok for you to be way lower level on a mis than the rest... You're healing! There is no random to hit, you hit every time. It's not harder for a level 32 healer to heal a level 36 team mate than for a level 36 healer to do it. As long as I was high enough level to get the xp, I was collecting MAS xp. But I missed alot too.
Now with my other alts I have forced myself to slow down. I deliberately solo my own mis's so I can build the contacts. So then I will hopefully get to the things that will give me the temp powers.
So bottom line is think about what you want out of play and work for that. Don't worry about how fast you are leveling unless the only thing you are enjoying is getting to level 50 as fast as you can. I'm having just as much fun with a level 15 toon as I am with my 39. My fun is now comeing just from the "action" and as long as I am in a friendly team, I'm good no matter how much xps I'm getting.
So that's my too long thoughts on this.
Naestra of the Irda - 39 Gravity/Empathy Controller
Naestra - 21 Energy/Energy Blaster
Seraphim Naestra - 20 Storm/Archery Defender
Darkwalker Naestra - 6 Illusion/Empathy Controller
Ms Egypt - 17 Gravity/Empathy Controller
Secret Fire - 16 Stone/Stone Tank
Dark Flamebird - 14 Fire/Fire Blaster
Ms. Webber - 15 Assault Rifle/Fire Blaster
Your Dad's Secretary - 11 Katana/Regen Scrapper

Let me just say this: My main, Enforcer Gnome, was at level 24 for maybe 2 monthes. And I was semi-activly playing him. But, 3 days ago I joined a great SG (Steel Justice), and am now at level 29. But I still consider myself a slow leveler

How quickly you level will also depend on the teams you run with. If you run solo frequently, and are just doing missions, you tend to level a bit slower. I could have hit 50 with my main, but there were some things I didn't want to out level, so I made sure not to join full teams w/ the mission difficulty set to high.
I do have to say the first 10 levels come a lot quicker after you have done it once or twice. You learn the good hunting grounds and what to do to bring that xp in. I think a lot of alt-aholics tend to level the lower levels quickly.

Actually, one of my leveling tricks is to follow as many story arcs and missions/TFs as you can :) I've seen a lot of the game and I plan to continue doing so. However, I am trying to move quickly. Though I've actually only played for 3 months total, that's been spread over a year so I have to make my game time count.
I plan to take it a little slower with my WS and PB, but I want to get there first.
I guess I should make a leveling guide if my methods work that well ;)

That's a thought. I'll have to try clicking some NPC's to see how many actual hours I've put in. I bet it's a lot which is why I seem to level fast.

Well, do do that, you need to buy the City of Normal People stand-alone expansion, due out in 2010.
*EDIT* Or, if you really want to feel like a normal peron with no superpowers at all, trying leveling up a trick arrow/psychic defender.

Well in theory you could sleep for a month and stay awake for two months. The average human adult sleeps for about 6.9 hours of sleep that's about 30 percent of their day and 30% of their life in the long term. But for some kids it's more like 9 hours of sleep every day which is 37.5% of their and in the long run 37.5% of their life. So since you sleep 1/3 of your life away you could stay awake alot longer. SO GET YOUR MONTH OF SLEEP AND LETS START NON STOP PLAYING

First off, could you please let us know the 2 months in which you aren't sleeping so we can be prepared for even stranger posts. I also don't think it really works like that. I know I've got with out a lot of sleep, but have never been able to sleep for longer than 12 hours. Of course I don't want to every stay awake for 2 months...again... it makes the world a bit skewed!
And you don't get your life back, sorry, Gameamp owns you now.

Ain't dat da truth. Here I am constantly on the board when I should be working. I guess it's a decent "fix" for when I can't play. I can be a little closer to the game (sigh).
Anyway, as my guide suggests if you want to get the most out of your play time, make sure that your account is active during particular months when you have a lot of free time.
Vacations are good for this as are any times that the wife and kids are off for the weekend/week to visit friends or relatives without you.
For example, the day that I leveled my first villain to 12 in one day was during a Saturday that my wife and kids were at a friends wedding. I played from 8am to 10pm with no breaks (except Bio now and then).
One trick I did was to get my wife the entire collection of the Raymond TV series so she could watch shows I didn't really care about while I played my game. Both of these activities took place after we put the kids to bed for the night of course, but that's a decent 2 to 3 hours a day.

Leveling depends alot on your AT, difficulty setting, and whether you team alot. I have read that about 400-hrs is average for getting a toon to 50.
I have a Spines/Regen scrapper that has made it to Level 44 (+2 bars) in 216-hrs. He has been running on Invincible since around level 30 or so. That has been almost exclusively solo except for AV missions or the occasional tell from someone who really needs help. I built this toon to be solo because I wanted to experience all of the story arcs, but even solo I ended up having to skip Hollows, Striga, and Croatoa.
My leveling method with him was to anticipate the story arcs and badge missions (thank you Red Tomax!) and only run missions for a particular contact until I have completed those, then move on to the next contact.

What i'm saying is not exaggerated.
My friend gave up Coh, so i got his 2nd account. I made a pure healer on it, up to lvl32.
I now have that healer, running in my missions healing me at low lvls... autoheal
I gained 16 lvls in 4.5 hours.
I started a blaster Friday night, at 8:42pm... up to Monday when i got home from classes on Monday at 3:00pm'ish... That blaster is now lvl28.
Playing with less people gives more xp, so i only teamed with 3 people, with my lvl32 healer, autohealing us.
Doing all my invinc mish, all my contacts are 100% completed. Your question was... is your leveling fast? It certainly is..., compared me though? I'm just lucky.
My downfall is, i can't do TF's.

I find that the amount of time is not as big a factor as who you are playing with and what time of the day you are on the most. I can play every night from here to July but if I'm only on after midnight, the amount of people to team with drops significantly (night owls only want to chat, or work on badge hunting or making binds, etc). Finding a super group that already has several high level toons willing to sk their lower mates is what got my main up to 44 in almost 5 months, and that while doing only one task force that actually earned me XP (the others that I've done exempted me because I outleveled them). Peregrine Island, as well as train mishes, are a levelers best friend, and I do those mishes as much as I can. (44 with a blaster who is constantly saddled with some amount of debt, lol. I'd be a 50 right now if I were any non-squishy build, and stuck to only mishes that gave XP) I average about 2hrs a day in-game, with about 1hr of actually doing mishes.

Besides the main issue, No i do not have to pay for this "feature"... And here's why
After three months of playing, I've made a few good friends... so long story short: I use their healers on their accounts when they aren't on. And likewise to my account when i'm not on, we just have to schedule it out.
I can only do this to speed my leveling up to lvl30... after that, i depend on large teams.

If I remember correctly my first 50 took a little over 600 hours(check an NPC with a name starting with "M"). I still have SG members that consistently pass me up. I tend to catch "the wave" as they roll through a set of levels. My altoholism keeps me from leveling 1 toon really fast.
I guess I'm a slow leveler too because of my A.D.D. After I got my first 50, leveling fast didn't matter, but 600+ hours is not considered fast in COH. I can easily get a toon to level 14 and their travel power in about 2 weeks. That's playing Tuesday nights, Friday nights, and one long stint on Saturday or Sunday. (one of those weekend days belongs to the GF.....her pick) That is if I can stay on that toon for that long.
Right now I'm getting about 1 level per long stint on a Robot/Traps MM on villains. About an 8 hour run. It's slowing down a little now that I'm in the mid 30's.

Bright took me a little over 500 hours, but I spent a lot of time monster and badge hunting. I'm not sure how quickly you can get to 50 if you concentrate solely on leveling. I'll guess that the average is somewhere around 400. There's no way that I spent 100+ hours just running through the zones or chatting.
