The Rules and Regs and stuff you can get bit
This is a costume contest with a slight difference. You'll be submitting not one, but THREE designs, same theme I hope, for uniforms. Why three? Male, Female and Huge body types need to be covered here.
So how do you do it? Quite simply, design each one, note the costume parts and colours (sticking to the gameamp alliance blue and white would be damn good Blue is row 12, column 3, white is row 1, column 9) and snap a screenshot, edit the 3 together and enter it in the competition. If you need help doing this, don’t be afraid to ask!!
Now here's a slightly different part.
Each submission will be held awaiting approval until the closing date. All costumes will then be posted in a new gallery and voting may commence.
Voting will be done by comments left each screenshot. You may leave 2 votes, scored 1 for your second and 2 for your top choice.
Anyone leaving more than two votes will have all their votes discounted from the final tally.
Costume with the highest votes, wins and all Alliance members will be required to fill their second or 3rd costume slot with the uniform.
Capes are optional and all pieces must be available to those who have CoH Only - so if CoH only members can't access the CoV options, then they are out.
Just remember, these costumes have to suit everyone, so throw your thinking caps on and get creating.
Closing date for submissions will be Friday 7th July and voting will then last until the 14th when an official announcement will be made.
Prizes
Winning entry will become the Alliance Official Uniform. That members toon, if a member of the Alliance will receive 100,000 influence to their main or alt in the SG only. If not a SG member, due to being on the EU server, Firespray will stump up the influence himself.
Second place will receive 30,000 influence to their main or alt in the SG.
Third place will receive 10,000 influence to their main or alt in the SG.

Just to clarify, I have added in the actualy colours for the SG
Blue is Row 12, Column 3
White is Row 1, Column 9

I'm going to go out on a limb and be a little presumptuous here.. I think that there is going to be a majority of people who are either ;
unfamiliar with how to combine images
or
lacking sufficient software to accomplish this..
I may be wrong, but even if it's a minority, then I think it would be benficial to address that issue within the forum so that everyone that would like to make a submission may do so within the guidelines..

it can be done with paint, but it might be a little hard because it will probably be a big picture.
here's another question: should we make the uniforms 100% or leave room for customizations? not all x-men unis are the exact same. i mean more along the lines of belts, heads and shoulders would be up to the individual. that way everyone can keep something about their toon that makes the toon unique but still be a part of the team.

This is a very good point. I think we need a bit of a walk through put up to explain how to do this.

ok i have a little problem with designing a costume. every time i go and try and make one, i end up starting with a new combo of power sets and get so involved in the costume creation, i just forget to take any notation or screenshots to see what i was doing. then i start to twitch and itch all over because i'm so close to fighting crime i just go in and play and say to myself 'ah i'll just do it next time i log on'

So..
There's one entry in the Gallery.. of a sinlge costume.. from a non-SG member..
Either we don't have any takers, or my original assumption was correct.. Plus, doesn't look like we're having success at getting anything posted on the 'how-to' of combining pictures..
We may want to revisit the parameters of the submission guidelines..

I for one have no clue how to get (3) different costumes in one picture.. So, either we need to be able to submit our (3) as separate pictures or someone is going to have to tell us how.. in very easy terms taking into consideration some peoples limited resources available..

ok I love making costumes for my SGs so this would be fun but i have some questions...
1) Do you have to be in the Gameamp SG to submit a costume?
2) Is capes and auras party of the costume? or do you want a level 1 costume?
3) When can we start submitting the costumes?

OK if it comes down to it mebbe taking 3 into one was me cutting down on the subs for it as we have to judge each entry as a whole as I'd hoped that we'd have 3 similar looking entries.
If we have to then 3 entries each is fine, u get judged on all 3 though not just one, it is the overall appearance of all 3 you submit combined that is the winner, not 3 seperate ones!!
As for being a member of the SG - no not a requirement and it begs the question - WHY AREN'T YOU IN THE COOLEST SG AROUND??? :o) *giggles*
As for not getting one we all like - simple - I'll make a couple and you can pick from that, just thought the SG members and ampers would like to have a say in the uniform.

i have a few ideas in mind right now, i just get caught up in game and havnet gotten around to submitting them yet. I guess i'll throw an idea or two out there for everyone to see. I have a front and back for huge, male, and female all in one file. i'll write up a little guide now on how i do it. its really easy and i just use paint.

Hey, I think that the classic GampeAmp yellow should be one of the colors for the SG, blue, yellow, and white? But for the most part, Blue and white. Just a little yellow here and there to spice it up is all I'm saying.
Hey, if me and my wife join the GA SG on triumph, can you help us out with some coin? We're used to having loads of influnce, it will kinda suck starting out fresh on a new server.

Well.. Here's an attempt at getting 3-in-1..
First ; we need something basic everyone should have..
Microsoft Paint should do the trick..
Second : we need some costumes..
You can accomplish this a few different ways..
1) If you can make it to Icon, then speak to a rep and design away..
2) You can completely make 3 new toons specifically for their costumes..
3) You can design 1 toon and just keep changing costume options..
Third ; we need screenshots..
Again, a couple different ways, depending on how you went about making costumes..
1) Ingame screen captures with the print screen button saved to the Screenshots file in the CoH Program File
2) Character Creation/Selection screen capture with the print screen button saved to your clipboard.. This one is more tricky because you have to have Paint open already for you to paste this type of image into
Fourth ; almost ready..
Now, you should have all of the images you want to use. You can use Paint to edit them into appropriate sizes to fit all 3 together before merging them.
Fifth ; now we're ready..
Using Paint, as we mentioned above ;
1) Start a new image and expand it wide enough to contain your 3 costume images
2) Use the Edit > Paste From option to locate your images one at a time - a regular search window will open allowing you to navigate to whichever location you store your images
3) paste them into the main image in whichever order you choose
4) Save the new image and you're ready to submit
