| Trying For A Crazy PvP Build. |

Ok, so I was thinking about making an even crazier PvP build for my Invul/Fire tank but I didn't want to mess with Red Scout's PvE build so I didn't become defunct for my team... I made a new character, Green Scout, and he's level 8 so far. His little build so far:
Invulnerablity:
RPD
Temp Invul
Dull Pain
Unyielding
Fiery Melee:
Scorch
Fitness:
Hurdle
Level 10 Power:
Provoke
I don't remember how I have him slotted, and I can't hop onto CoH until a little later to grab that info. But what I was planning on doing was getting the Leadership Pool for Maneuvers and Tactics, so I can get some Defence buff and to be able to see some Stalkers. Presence Pool for Provoke, Intimidate and Invoke Panic, Provoke for the taunt all in PvE, Intimidate for the one on one action and Invoke Panic for those times where you have a crap load of Villains beating on you. Fitness for the standard Health and Stamina. Flight for the Air Supiority so I can have an extra attack without it messing up my flow like Jump Kick does in Leaping. Speed for Hasten and lastly I was wanting to get the Earth Mastery Pool for Salt Crystals and Fossilize for the extra holds.
I was planning on skipping all the AoE's in the Fire set, keeping to Scorch, Fire Sword, Build Up, Incenerate, and Greater Fire Sword. Defense wise get all except for Resist Elements and Resist Energies. I tried doing a complete mock up of my build on CoH Hero Builder, but I keep getting confused by it and end up clicking the wrong power, forcing myself to restart the build all over again.
I was wondering when I7 was on the test they completely wiped everyone's Heroes/Villains off the test and people had to create a new one there and go to a certain person to level them up all the way to Level 49, I was wondering if that is still there cause I want to do a quick power select instead of going through the Levels again...

I believe that was only for the two days that they were doing the testing, then they reloaded the test server the way it was.
That would be great to have that option all the time though. That way you could see if the build you are planning will really be that good or not.

Yeah it would. I'm not a very smart person so I don't know how to get Red Scout onto Test.

I just googled "how to copy characters onto test server (City of heroes) and it showed me how.
*back on subject* Invul/Fire is a great combo especially for soloing and stuff, but the best AT I have seen for PvP was Broad Sword/Regen, an incredible offense with a phenomenal defense

Alright I finally sat down and planned it a little. This is the basic make up of it. I don't know about the whole arrangement but... this is it:
Name: Green Scout
Level: 50
Archetype: Tanker
Primary: Invulnerability
Secondary: Fiery Melee
---------------------------------------------
01) --> Resist Physical Damage==> DmgRes(1) DmgRes(31) DmgRes(33)

Well, I got to hand it to you Red Scout, I think it's a rather solid build.
I've been thinking of doing a PvP tanker myself, and made a Fire/S-Strength guy... I figured I'd try to make a guy that could withstand a Assasin Strike or 2, and then just do as much damage as possible in the shortest time possible... kind of like a short fuse. Seeing as I hate villains, doing a slight imitation of brute wouldn't be a half bad idea.
Just wanted to see what you all thought, and I also wanted to see if it was worth nabbing any kinda of Concealment powers. My theory is that I can charge in, and hopefully hit anyone my target hard before they knew what hit them. Being able to possibly hit a Stalker with my AoEs and him not being able to see me way ahead of time seemed like an interesting thought as well...
Not trying to rain on your parade Scout, but since I'm kind of playing the other end of a Tanker here, I wanted to see if you and anyone else might find it effective in any way. I DO think your idea is solid, but I've been in the lower level PvP zones a lot, and I've seen good tankers just drop because the 3 or 4 stalkers got smart and smacked him down before he could really do any good. No offense to the rest of the team out there, but Tankers are really the only thing we heroes got that can handle the high damage output of the larger part of our villain enemies. And most of your powers wouldn't do you an ounce of good if you are dead. Heh.
So anyways, that's my thoughts on the PvP world. Hope that helped some.

Well to tell you the through, I've been dropped in every PvP zone by 3-4 Stalkers. Unless you have Unstoppable or at the very least Dull Pain up and running, there is no surviving that many stalkers as a Tank.
My thought is, if they're going to hit me... let them, but then I can at least try to hold them still before they run off and hide themselves again so I can run in and give them a good ass whomping then. I've never been one shotted by a Stalker before, even in Bloody Bay with no Defense on and was resting at the same time. I let the Stalker do that and he couldn't drop me then.
As far as I know, concealment can be picked up on very, very easily. People just have to grab the Leadership pool or even with some others ATs, like a /SS Tanker with Rage, they can see through Invisible. Plus you can't attack anything while Invisible, at least I couldn't when I had it on my PB and wanted to go around dropping the double deuce on a Villain before they had the chance to say 'Hey look, a squishy PB!'
Currently I'm at level 20 with Black Scout, and at the moment he's looking kind of piss poor in a lot of areas. So I can't really see him being in fighting shape for Bloody Bay, my 2 attacks I have so far are both 3 slotted with 1 dmg, 1 acc, and 1 end redux. My 2 toggles are are 4 slotted with 2 end redux and 2 dmg resist. So yeah.

Ok, here's the deal. Fiery Melee is really lacking in ranged attacks. So you may want to look into TP Foe. The Presence pool could work for you, but in its place, I'd pick up the speed pool. FM's best attacks are on a heavy timer, so being able to fire off hasten is a must. Leaping and Fitness are of course obvious.
I went ahead and worked up a build for you. Don't pay attention to when I put the slots in, just focus on when I took the powers. I'm sure you can figure out a good slotting as you go, and once you hit 50, when you put your slots in doesn't matter, as long as they are all placed right.

This build is already pretty endurance intensive without adding in the Leadership pool. Once you have Hami-Os available, slot at least one end redux into each attack, two into Fire Sword and Scorch. Without Tactics, you won't be able to see Stalkers. Oh well, guess you'll have to keep moving, huh? Once you pick up FA for RV, Stalkers won't be an issue. Build Up has 3 ToHit buffs, because it's likely that you will come up against Defense Based sets, and need the extra boost to get the damage through.
As far as play style, watch your endurance and keep moving. If a foe is faster than you (likely) TP them back to you. It's not 100% effective, but BU->TP->Fire Sword->Scorch could work well. Just keep the attacks coming, and keep em as close to you as you can. Stalkers can't one shot a tank, no matter what. Take the first AS, hit Dull Pain, and make them regret messing with you.
Good Luck, and Have Fun!

Weeeeeellllll, i cant say that was called for becuase of the fact that a Fire/EM tank hits extremely hard, in the upwards of 1.2k damage with ET and TF, which if i recall correctly does register as "good" in a PvP scenerio, on the stalker Issue, as a Invul tanker i would look into Recharge Bonus's for IO sets, at the very least some + HP IO sets, but in all just dont stop moving, i cant stress it enough, a stalker will never kill you if your moving. Your main enemys in PvP as a tanker are /cold, and rad corruptors, some brutes, and a heros worst nightmare the rare but potent PermaDom

So, here I am reading my email, and there's someone posting an extemely negative comment on the boards regarding a topic that's nearly 2 YEARS OLD. All due respect, but ever heard of the phrase "beating a dead horse"?
Anyways, I'm in great agreement Espilon here. Having played a Will/SS Tank, and having played with others, I can fullheartedly agree that a tank is viable in PvP... tell you what, it's a pain to fight a good Invul tank when I'm playing my Brute >_<
That being said, sabres, the purpose of a good forum is to allow people to share, discuss, & compare each other's thoughts and opinions on a subject. However, there's no need to dimiss any idea in that manner. You'd be surprised what people can come up with.
I predict that I'll see this topic in my mail again soon! :-P
