SpecOps origins

I realize the origins are science based, but I was wondering if there was a central story that you want all of our backgrounds to have in common.

I want to write up a background for SpecOps Healer, but I remembered there was going to be a central theme.

Any thoughts?

RE: SpecOps origins

I hadnt seen one, so I went ahead and made one for Mojo already.

I didnt have the forethought to look at any of the others Bios yet (in game) before I did either.

If there is one I would gladly modify Mojo's though.

RE: SpecOps origins

i am so glad you brought this up! some others have asked me in-game and i have only given a short synopsis.

Ok so there is a secret section of the US Government that was given a project of using nanoscopic robots and certain serums and chemicals to create superhuman soldiers. A very dangerous and clever man, Commander Vincent Fiest, would use his elixirs and poisons to put all of their soldiers into a kind of mind control trance. The elite ones rose to the title of SpecOps agents, then once their training was complete, BlackOps agents. One agent, the psychic SpecOps Psion, broke out of her trance as a side-effect of her mental powers. Because she was the first mentalist that they had created, they were unprepared for her massive rage-driven assault that she and her husband, who goes by SpecOps Marrow, alone committed, and many of the BlackOps guards were destroyed by Marrow's razor-spines or turned insane by Psion's psychic abilities. They proceeded to save several of the SpecOps-level agents that night, including a strongman known as Muscle, who was the first test subject, a telekinetic known as Wormhole, a bladed and darkness-shrouded agent called Claws, a chemically re-animated Corpse, and a few others. Their little band of miscreants fled the Rogue Isles, where President Bush had set up the operation, and went to Paragon City to try and train with superheroes so that they can one day free the rest of the SpecOps Agents. Psion is freeing their minds one by one, and their numbers grow daily, but so do those of the BlackOps. The BlackOps Agents' training is more advanced than that of the SpecOps', so she is unable to retrieve their consciousnesses from the mind control serum of the Commander. Both sides are training and gaining numbers and strength, so there might one day be a battle between them to end all battles, probably taking place in Bloody Bay or Siren's Call, two of the focal points in the areas, allowing the winners to advance to the other side.

Basically, for each of your characters, think about a spot on their body that the usually focus their powers through or something, and that would be that spot where the nanites were introduced into the body. Psion's frontal lobe houses her nanites, and they opened up the areas of her brain used for mentalism. Marrow's are in his blood and bone marrow, allowing him to regenerate and grow his bones into large spikes. Polarity has nanites covering and gradually replacing his hands with special gauntlets that can channel magnetic energy. Or, maybe a chemical was infused into their bodies giving them their powers, like Muscle has one that makes his muscles 10x as strong and able to withstand crazy damage.

OOC: there it is, post any comments/questions, and maybe a sample bio for one of your characters if you are wondering if it matches up.

RE: SpecOps origins

Thx Sol, im gonna have to work some of that into my back story.

Mojo is a WS

Gunnery Sgt Jake Fallon:

Chosen early in his military career (under the first Pres. Bush's administration) for genetic alteration. His DNA was infused with parts of a Kheldians. Dark Energy, Stealth, Speed, and Shape shifting are but a few of his attributes.

Code named Mojo for his Voodoo or magical like abilities on the battlefield. (ex. form shifting, Mires, Foe-recharge and Foe-speed)

And or Mojo, meaning inner essence (in my mind), perhaps the nanites were the objects that performed the DNA alterations.

RE: SpecOps origins

This is the longer version of how will read SpecOps Synthezoid 1 bio: (pending approval)

Following the dramatically successful escape of some governement agents, a still novel concept for a next generation of agents was hastily implemented: an artificially created human being, the first true bionic man ; not an electronically enhanced individual like a mere cyborg, but a completely artificial construct mimicking down to the cellular level a living organism. Nanotechnology was to be the main principle behind this creation, but it was not locally implanted into a living body for specific effects as was standard procedure with converted living agents; in this new approach, it was to be infused within the whole synthetic cellular structure of the construct.

Such a creature could thus be inbred with superpowers and unswerving devotion to the cause of it's creators.

That grand project went completely awry.

Because of time, ressources and budget constraints, and because of the urgent need to assess the defection of so many operatives, the scientists took shortcuts that would prove their undoing: they used cloning technology to assemble the basic material of their creature, following the pattern of the infamous Hero Revenant project of Crey industries. The cellular memory of the revived genetic material reacted unpredictably to radiation exposure, not only unleashing the nuclear powers of the creature but also the residual memory of the donor.

As soon as the first Synthezoid was activated, it analyzed the corruption and murderous intent behind his birth, obeyed to his primary basic moral code and escaped: it simply followed his first orders to discover the wherebouts of the fugitive agents, burned out his GPS with a burst of radiation and disappeared in the half-deserted zone were the outbreak plague was still raging... not bothering to report when he made contact with them.

Now, his only drive comes from his own basic ethical programming and the interactions it has with the rebel agents: to protect and to serve... with a huge void of behaviorial algorithms still to be rewritten... and fleeting, residual memories, the ghost in the machine, slowly awakening.

RE: SpecOps origins

I used a quote from Frederick Nietzsche and the movie "Bourne Ultimatum" as inspirations for SpecOps Claws' bio:

"And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

Light has broken over the horizon, but darkness lingered in SpecOps Claws' soul. He was freed from a corrupt special forces unit by his fellow comrades. But his mind was still trapped by memories of his past actions. The faces of helpless victims continued to haunt him. It started out innocently enough. He volunteered to join the military to defend the people he loved and the ideals he valued, but he somehow ended up becoming the very monster he vowed to fight.

His commanding officer, Vincent Fiest, had convinced him of the need to be made stronger to fight the super-villains out there. He was given nanite injections that created a shroud of darkness around his body, which made him highly stealthy for night operations. He was then infused with metal claws for close quarters combat. But unbeknown to him, he was also injected with mind control agents. He and others in his unit were used in operations that were questionable in nature, and more often than not, kill orders were justified by scant evidences and proofs.

Unable to change the past, SpecOps Claws can only look at the rising sun and hope that one day, light will shine once again in his darken heart.
