Ok, I need some help with a graphix problem. (I think) Me and my roommate stopped playing for a few months and now we have come back to play again, but his computer isn't working right. When ever he logs in the game only runs for a min or so before the screen goes black and we have to restart it. It happened only once when he was doing something on line but happens ever time he plays CoH. Now nothing has been changed with the system since before and it has all the newest drivers and still meets all the system requirements for CoH. I know a bit about computer cause I work on them all the time but I've never run into this before. Thank you in advance for any ideas you may have as to what the problem may be.

So it has or hasn't happened in other programs besides COH? And when it happens on COH can you get out of it and go back to the desktop or does the whole PC lock up?

It has happened once out side of CoH, but it happens everytime he logs on to CoH. Once it goes black you have to turn the computer off and then back on to see anything again.

Video card could be overheating. Unplug, open the case, spray with canned air, plug in with the case still open, fire it up and make sure the fans are still spinning.
Check the processor fan too. Could be overheating as well.
It sounds hardwareish to me, whatever it is.

What kind of Cooling unit is he using?
I had an issue over a year ago with my liquid cooling unit. Every now and then the pump would shut off and not move the fluid through the radiator.
It was sporatic in the beginning, and increasingly got worse. My unit would overheat and totally shut down on its own.
Not the same sort of symptoms, I know. But im just throwing an idea out there.
It also sounds to me like a Video Card problem. Does he run any other graphic intensive programs with it?
Might try and put another compatible Video Card in and see if the problem persists. Maybe you can rule out the video card.
