Starting a solo Supergroup on Freedom server to play some new combinations of heroes I haven't tried before.
Any Ideas on what defender types you don't see much of?
I have my standard Empathy Defender, now I want another defender, but one that I may not have tried or one you don't see much of.

i have yet to see a dark miasma/energy defender. some that would mesh very well but are somewhat unusual: kinetics/sonic (the -res in all the sonic powers would be a boon to the +damage in kinetics, plus it has a bunch of AoEs), ff/dark (+defense mixed with -acc = very few hits landing on the team).

Thumb down to Dark/Energy. The knockback isn't very well meshed with Dark's target heavy powers.
HUGE Thumb up to Kinetics/Sonic. Kinetic Defenders are almost always welcome on a team. Sonic has outstanding resistance debuffs. Kinetics = Fulcrum Shift and Siphon Powers. Adding those to Sonic's debuffs is a recipe for some major hurt dealt by your damage dealers.

I've also recently started a kin/archery defender that is moving along nicely. I chose archery for one reason, rain of arrows. With hasten/siphon speed, it will be up roughly every 25 seconds when slotted, thats a lot of hurt every 25 seconds. Downside... redrawing the weapon all the time. But I dig archery and the set has done well so far.
If you are looking to pvp, I'd recommend kin/elec... build yourself a sapper. You won't be able to solo well, but with a dmg dealer, you can suck the enemy tank or healer dry, allowing total freedom for a pummeling by your teammates. Downside... there are sets that resist end drain.
I haven't seen much in the way of cold dominators yet either, that might be a set to venture into.

that's probably why i haven't seen any.
dark/elec will get you 2 pets, that's 2 more than any other defender build...
kin/rad also does well because you can hit someone with a neutrino bolt for -def before all of the acc-based powers, making them much more likely to hit. also, the two AoEs you get by lvl 10 are quite nice with siphon power.
storm/ice can be a very controller-y, hella slowing build, and you'd get 3 Rain powers (freezing rain, ice storm, blizzard) by lvl 38, which all slow and could deal some really intense hurt to a large area.

Rad/Son isn't very rare, but it is a very powerful build for helping the team and soloing well.
You don't see very many Sonic Defenders around, mostly because ppl are afraid of the set's graphics hurting other player's eyes. I love the set, because it will increase the teams damage while lessening incoming damage. It also has a touch of mezz protection, to help you help your team. Son/Son is a very solid soloing offender, while still being able to really help a team survive and rip through enemies. Toss in Assault and Tactics from the Leadership pool, and you and your team will be killing machines.

Yep, I try to avoid teaming with sonics since the devs changed the graphics and sounds of the powers.
It's on of the most annoying sets in the game.
I'm listening to real music.

i HIGHLY recommend a kin/sonic defender. my lvl 50 kin (named speed boost..lol) is one and i very much enjoy playing her

I went with a Dark/Sonic blend of Defender.
Das Carrot was sonic and my mastermind is Dark.
This will be a blend of the two.
We will see how she gets along.

It seems like a fun build to play with. At least it has so far, For me its like a mixed bag, some offense, some buff/debuff, some contolling aspects, plus a good heal and rez. Total support toon jack of all trades but master at none.

I have never been much on Defenders... I have tried several versions and builds, but just could not find one that interested me. However... I did discover the classic Dark/Dark and it is the only Defender I have.
But with all these suggestions floating around I may try one or two of them in the future...
