That thing is a Pylon. Its classified as an Object, no level rank, though it shows up Yellow (+1) to your current level, and uses the monster damage ranking to deal level-related damage to you.
There are a series of 18 Pylons scattered around the crashed Mothership, take all 18 down (they re-form after several minutes) and the Shields drop. Plant 3 Bombs (limited to 1/team every 30min) to get the Ukon tho show (a Giant Monster) on the ship to show, and earn a guarenteed merit per Rikti while on that ship. Basic RWZ Mothership Raid.
