To join a public Global chat channel (such as Gameamp.com), you need to know the name of the channel you wish to join. Once you join a global channel, you can have access to it with each hero you are playing, you will just need to assign it to a tab for each hero so you can see the chat in your chat window (I will explain how in just a minute).
First, you have to join the global channel. The easiest way is to right click on the lower pane of your chat window.
This will bring up a list of options. You can click on Join Channel.
This in turn will bring up another window that asks you to enter the Global Channel name. Enter in the name of the channel you want to join such as Gameamp.com. After you join the channel, you will see a message in you Global Tab of your chat window that states that you have joined (such as “Joined Channel Gameamp.com”).
Now that you have joined the global channel, you will need to set it up that you can see the channel chat in your chat window. This can be done a number of ways. The First would be to right click on your chat window again, and click on Edit Tab. This will bring up the Edit Tab Window.
The left side shows your current selected channels. These are the different channels that you currently can see in the Chat Tab window. The right side shows the available channels to add to that window. You need to highlight the global channel name you typed in earlier (such as Gameamp.com), and then click the Add button. This will move the name from the right side to the left side. Then click the OK button and you should start seeing the global chat in the default Chat tab.
Another option would be to create a new tab for the global channel chat. This can be done by clicking on one of the numbers at the top of the chat window. This will open a tab at the top of the chat window. You can click on the Add Tab button to bring up the Tab Edit window.
You will now be able to select the chat channels you would like to see in this new tab as well as name the tab. Once you have created the tab you can left click and drag the tab down to you lower chat window. This will add the tab next to you Chat tab in the lower window. Then you can click on that tab to view and chat. If you want to chat on that channel you click on the tab and select the A button (last button to the right) right above the chat entry line.
An option many people use is after they have created the new tab, click on the small blue circle at the top left corner of the window. This will make it so you can drag the window to anywhere on the screen. With this method, you can always see the chat window and that channel is shown separate from the normal chat that is going on in the regular chat window. In the screenshot below you can see that I have moved the Gameamp.com chat window to the other side of the screen.
To chat on the global channel with a separate window, click on the window then click on the A button that is right above the chat command line (same as above).
As an extra, you can set up a bind for when you want to talk in a specific channel. If I want to start chatting in the Global Gameamp.com channel, I can set up a bind so that I would press the G key and start typing. When I press the G key it sets the chat channel to Gameamp.com and sets the cursor at the chat line to begin typing. That bind would be:
/Bind g beginchat/send "Gameamp.com"
