Welcome to Aurrius' guide to the Broadsword/Regeneration Scrapper!
This is my very first guide, and I will explain both Broadsword and Regeneration in it.
Wish me luck!
I will rate all powers from each power set from 1 to 5 and give an explanation of them, dive into the pools, the ancillary pools and last but not least I’ll give you the build that I am currently using on my level 50 Broadsword/Regeneration/Body Mastery Scrapper named Aurrius Valorum, on the EU Union server.
Broadsword
Hack
Type: Click
Available: Level 1
Effect: Melee High damage (lethal), Foe -DEF
Endurance cost: 8,53
Recharge: 8 seconds
Debion: Great power. Very high damage (especially at low levels), not that much lower than Disembowel. The animation is very quick, and (as stated earlier) the damage is high, which makes up for the long recharge.
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge Reduction
Overall rating: 4
Slash
Type: Click
Available: Level 1
Effect: Melee Moderate damage (lethal), Foe -DEF
Endurance cost: 5,2
Recharge: 4 seconds
Debion: Rather quick attack, useful as a filler at lower levels. I suggest you take this at lower level, and respec Hack in as a replacement at about level 26 (when you have more attacks).
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge Reduction (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating: 3
Slice
Type: Click
Available: Level 2
Effect: Melee (Cone) Moderate damage (lethal), Foe -DEF
Endurance cost: 8,53
Recharge: 6 seconds
Debion: Great power. It has decent damage, a very large cone. What else do you want?
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge
Overall rating: 4
Build Up
Type: Click
Available: Level 6
Effect: Self +100% damage, +20% accuracy
Endurance cost: 5,2
Recharge: 90 seconds
Debion: Good power, but necessary for Broadsword.
Recommended slotting: 3xRecharge Reduction 1-3xToHit buff (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating: 3
Parry
Type: Click
Available: Level 8
Effect: Melee Minor damage (lethal), Self +DEF(Melee, lethal)
Endurance cost: 4,37
Recharge: 3 seconds
Debion: Although I personally found it rather useless until the higher levels, most people tend to take this at lower levels (usually at level 8 or 10), because the extra defence helps very nicely against Bosses, Elite Bosses and those kind of things. It gives you extra survivability (especially if you’re secondary is Regeneration).
Recommended slotting: 1xAccuracy 3xDefence Buff (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating:
Confront
Type: Click
Available: Level 12
Effect: Ranged, Foe Taunt
Endurance cost: --
Recharge: 3 seconds
Debion: A standard taunt. You shouldn’t be taking this, unless you want to be a tanking Scrapper. Which you are not, since you should take Regeneration as a secondary!
Recommended slotting: 1xAccuracy
Overall rating: 1
Whirling Sword
Type: Click
Available: Level 18
Effect: Melee (PBAoE) Moderate damage (lethal), Foe -DEF
Endurance cost: 13
Recharge: 14 seconds
Debion: A very good PBAoE damaging power. Although its radius isn’t that large, it deals slightly more damage than Slice and if you are reasonably good at keeping enemies near you will love this.
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge Reduction/1xEndurance Reduction (depends on your secondary, can your endurance handle this?)
Overall rating: 5
Disembowel
Type: Click
Available: Level 26
Effect: Melee Superior damage (lethal), Foe Knock-up, Foe –DEF
Endurance cost: 10,2
Recharge: 10 seconds
Debion: Your awesomeness will take a huge leap here. Disembowel deals great damage on a single target and usually sends them flying through the air. Slot it for damage and recharge and people will start to dislike you.
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge Reduction/1xEndurance Reduction (depends on your secondary, can your endurance handle this?)
Overall rating: 5
Head Splitter
Type: Click
Available: Level 32
Effect: Melee (Cone) Extreme damage (lethal), Foe Knockback, Foe –DEF
Endurance cost: 13,5
Recharge: 14 seconds
Debion: Take it, use it, love it. Head Splitter is the epitome of what every Scrapper aspires to be. It deals massive damage to a single target and it can also damage multiple targets in a very, very narrow cone. I recommend attempting to line the enemies up and then using this, then laugh at them suffering. Head Splitter has a greater chance to score a critical strike than the other Broadsword powers.
Recommended slotting: 3xDamage 2xAccuracy 1xRecharge Reduction/1xEndurance Reduction (depends on your secondary, can your endurance handle this?)
Overall rating: 5
Regeneration
Fast Healing
Type: Auto
Available: Level 1
Effect: +75% regeneration
Endurance Cost: --
Recharge: --
Debion: You have no choice but to take this. It’s a nice power, and can really reduce your downtime between fights.
Recommended slotting: 3xHeal (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating: 3
Reconstruction
Type: Click
Available: Level 2
Effect: Self 25% heal, Res(toxic)
Endurance Cost: 10,4
Recharge: 60 seconds
Duration: 60 seconds
Debion: One of the best self heals in the game. Triple slot it for both heal and recharge reduction, and you’ll have a 50% heal every 30 seconds. Increases your survivability by a massive amount.
Recommended slotting: 3xHeal 3xRecharge Reduction
Overall rating: 5
Quick Recovery
Type: Auto
Available: Level 4
Effect: +30% recovery
Endurance Cost: --
Recharge: --
Debion: Take it, love it.
Recommended slotting: 3xEndurance Modification
Overall rating: 5
Dull Pain
Type: Click
Available: Level 10
Effect: Self +40% max HP, 40% heal
Endurance Cost: 10,4
Recharge: 360 seconds
Duration: 120 seconds
Debion: Although some people can go without it, I highly recommend you take it. It’s great for mitigating an alpha strike of any sort. Dull Pain will increase your maximum HP and also heal you in such way that you will have the same percentage of health with your new maximum HP as you did before.
Recommended slotting: 3xHeal 3xRecharge Reduction (if you can afford the slots, one or two Recharge Reductions are alright as well)
Overall rating: 4
Integration
Type: Toggle
Available: Level 16
Effect: Self +Res(Knockback, Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize), +150% regeneration
Endurance Cost: 0,26 endurance per second
Recharge: 10 seconds
Debion: As you noticed, this is your status resistance toggle. It also gives you a very good portion of regeneration. Take it, love it.
Recommended slotting: 3xHeal 1-2xEndurance Reduction (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating:
Resilience
Type: Auto
Available: Level 20
Effect: Self +Res(Disorient, smashing, lethal, toxic)
Endurance Cost: --
Recharge: --
Debion: This is an auto power which gives you very minor resistance to smashing, lethal and toxic damage. The good thing about it is that it gives you resistance against Disorients, meaning that all Disorient effects on you will have their duration shortened by a huge amount. Example: if you use an Awaken, you will be Disoriented for about a second, instead of the usual 10 seconds, or whatever it is. This is a very debatable power. You probably won’t notice a difference if you don’t fight enemies with a lot of stuns, or if you don’t use Awakens. Only take it if you have spare power slots.
Recommended slotting: 1xResistance
Overall rating: 2
Instant Healing
Type: Click
Available: Level 28
Effect: Self +800% regeneration
Endurance Cost: 10,4
Recharge: 650 seconds
Duration: 90 seconds
Debion: Godmode. Most enemies won’t be able to hit through your massive regeneration, and many people consider this the godmode power of Regeneration, instead of Moment of Glory. Activate it in the middle of a tough battle, or right before that battle. Don’t use it right before dying, because it won’t save you from that.
Recommended slotting: 3xHeal 3xRecharge Reduction
Overall rating: 5
Revive
Type: Click
Available: Level 35
Effect: Self resurrection, 75% heal, 50% endurance, 20 second debt protection
Endurance Cost: --
Recharge: 300 seconds
Debion: Debatable power, just like Resilience. If you plan on dying a lot, take it. If you don’t plan on dying, don’t take it, or leave it till your late 40s like I did.
Recommended slotting: 1xRecharge Reduction/Heal
Overall rating: 1
Moment of Glory
Type: Click
Available: Level 38
Effect: Self +Res(All damage but psionics), +Def (All damage but psionics), +recovery, -HP, -regeneration
Endurance Cost: 2,6
Recharge: 1000 seconds
Duration: 195 seconds
Debion: The pinnacle of what Regeneration should NOT be. This power gives you ‘good’ defence and resistance (if slotted right), but it lowers your hit points to about 20% and makes you unable to regenerate health or heal. Some people love it, some don’t. I don’t. I found that enemies hit through it way too easily, and the damage resistance doesn’t help when you only have a couple of hundred hit points left.
Recommended slotting: 1xResistance 1-3xRecharge Reduction (if you can afford the slots) 1-3xDefence (if you can afford the slots)
Overall rating: 2
Power pools
I’m just writing down my own opinions here, and this is by no means what the pools are truly like.
Concealment
Although it can be nice to be able to stealth allies, or be stealthed yourself, I personally don’t like it and I don’t recommend it. You’re a Scrapper, don’t be a wuss.
Fighting
Boxing and Kick are worthless, the +Res and +Def from Tough and Weave can be handy if you don’t think your survivability is high enough (for example, when you’re Regeneration like I suggested and you think you need more smashing/lethal resistance or defence).
Fitness
Recommended for any build, even for a Regeneration build. The +recovery for Stamina adds up nicely with Quick Recovery. And if you’re Broadsword, Dark Melee or any other endurance-heavy build, both Quick Recovery and Stamina are a must.
Flight
Me likey, but slow. Air Superiority is nice but the other two are rubbish. Take Fly if you want to as your travel power.
Leadership
Can be useful for both PvE and PvP, with some extra damage (nice for allies), accuracy and perception. Don’t bother picking up Maneuvers or Vengeance, unless you do the Statesman’s Task Force each day and people die a lot. If you’re Regeneration, you can take the extra hit on your endurance with relative ease.
Leaping
Very nice travel power, and Combat Jumping gives you a little defence and a bit of extra jumping height/speed. Jump Kick isn’t worth a thing, and Acrobatics is handy if you don’t have knockback protection (basically, if you have Dark Armour).
Medicine
Only take it if you’re Invulnerability or Super Reflexes.
Presence
Do I really have to waste words on this pool? Yes? Alright... rubbish. You don’t want to control the opponent. You’re a Scrapper, all you want is to kill kill kill!
Speed
Super Speed is a decent travel power, very fast, though the lack of height bothers me. Hasten is a must for a Broadsword/Regeneration build, and I recommend it for any build.
Teleportation
My travel power of choice for a /Regeneration build with Quick Recovery and Stamina. Very fast, though a direct pain in the arse with lag. Recall Friend is very team-friendly. Teleport Foe can be handy for pulling, and Team Teleport is just… well, a waste of a power slot.
Ancillary pools
I have to admit that I have no experience at all with both Darkness Mastery and Weapons Mastery, but I do love Body Mastery. It’s also the Ancillary pool I recommend.
Conserve Power: good if you have endurance issues, and it’s great against Malta Sappers or Carnie Ring Mistresses.
Focused Accuracy: take it, love it. It’s quite heavy on the endurance, but the +perception and +accuracy make up for it.
Laser Beam Eyes: if you want another attack, take it. It’s a nice combination with Focus (from Claws) or Impale (Spines).
Energy Torrent: no comment…
Sample build
Here you have Aurrius Valorum’s current PvE build, as I never PvP I don’t have a PvP build hanging around. Good luck!
