Dual Blades Scrappers, Tanks, Brutes and Stalkers (hereafter referred to as "Blenders" for speed) are the new flavour of the month with the launch of I11.
The big news for Blenders is the Combo system. Simply put, works like this:
- each combo requires a sequence of three moves.
- each move must HIT to continue/complete the sequence...
- ...but it doesn't have to hit the same enemy.
- you have a certain amount of time between each move to continue the sequence.
- You can fire any non-DB power without breaking the chain.
So even if you finish off a minion with your first two shots, you can still drop the third on his boss and complete the bonus sequence.
So what, pray, are these bonuses?
WEAKEN: Severely reduces DEF and ToHIT for all enemies in a wide PBAoE. Useful for tackling bosses, and for clearing large mobs. Absolute boon for AoE-friendly Blasters / Controllers / Domis / Ruptors.
SEQUENCE:
Tanks/Scraps/Brutes: Nimble Slice > Ablating Strike > Typhoon's Edge
Stalkers: Sweep Strike > Power Slice > 1000 Cuts
EMPOWER: Adds a SECOND, albeit smaller, Build Up effect on top of the standard Blinding Feint / Build up power. Useful, not essential.
Tanks/Scraps/Brutes: Nimble Slice > Ablating Strike > Blinding Feint
Stalkers: Build Up > Assassin > Placate
ATTACK VITALS: Adds a lethal cone Minor DoT against all enemies in range.
Tanks/Scraps/Brutes: Ablating Strike > Vengeful Slice > Sweep Strike
Stalkers: Ablating Strike > Nimble Slice > Vengeful Slice
SWEEP: Knocks down and adds a Moderate Lethal Damage strike to your PBAoE. Great when chained with Weaken.
Tanks/Scraps/Brutes: 1000 Cuts > Power Slice > Typhoon's Edge
Stalkers: Build Up > Assassin > Ablating Strike
DREAMY AND THE DOOM KITTENS' BLOODY OBVIOUS BUILD ADVICE
Hasten is your friend when you need to fire off those combos in a hurry.
Make sure you cut your Recharge Time on Ablative Strike, which is going to be your hardest working power. Either one or two Recharge SOs or a well-balanced IO set will (I recommend five-slotting Crushing Impact plus either another ACC or RECHARGE to finish off the six. Use Crushing Impact on any other set you can squeeze it into to keep eating into that recharge time.)
Similarly, make sure Typhoon is something you can use often and hard. Scirocco's Dervish is best for this (unless you can afford/find/use Armageddon).
The prevalence of AoE moves means you're going to be attracting an awful lot of attention. Great for Brutes and Tanks, not so great for Scrappers. Work on your DEF and +Regen scores.
Since you'll be taking Hasten, consider Super Speed as your primary travel power if you need a speedy exit from an enraged mob. With Combat Jumping and Hurdle you should be able to get around mostly unhindered - but if you can shell out the readies for the GvE edition bonus pack, the lovely, lifesaving Jump Pack will take care of all your needs.
