Bloody Bay opens up a whole new realm of adventure for villains – not only can you attack player villains, but you can sabotage their hard work on the meteorite run – and help yourself complete it!
MINIMUM LEVEL: 15
BOOSTED/EXEMPED TO: 25
Hero Entrance: Skyway City, near Faultline exit
Villain Entrance: Cap Au Diable airport
Bit of back story: years ago, a mysterious meteorite was approaching Earth – apparently stalking it, according to some observers. While it was destroyed by a valiant band of heroes, six shards fell to Earth in what had been the popular tourist resort of Bloody Bay. Now that the radioactivity has died down enough to allow some exploration, heroes, villains and random crazies are all looking to find out the secrets of the six meteors and the monsters that spawn around them.
ZONE MISSIONS:
As well as hunting villains or collecting core samples, you can also performed timed missions within the zone. All of them take roughly an hour and seem to award slightly superior XP to normal missions. All of the Hero missions should be fairly straight forward apart from the Defend Equipment mission, which will require Controller or Tanker skills to pull mobs away from the endangered items.
These missions also award cumulative badges for PvP zone missions (Agent Provocateur etc) and may also award a temporary Stealth power, good for one hour total use.
These missions will stop being available once you hit the level cap for the zone (25).
VILLAIN HUNTING
Those insidious villain types are crawling all over this zone, so beware! Defeating Villains here will earn you a tiny amount of XP and bragging rights, but it won't stop them trying to kill you. Be warned that if you persistently kill less powerful enemies than yourself (lower level before the boost/exemp), you may get labelled with the Ganker tag.
Villains will be generally on their way to perform missions around the zone or lying in wait for Heroes to come by. Good places to check (and be wary of Stalkers etc) are:
- near any of the Meteors - (check the gantries in particular)
- near any of the Processor firebases (see below)
- phone boxes (for Patrol missions)
- bunker access hatches (for Zone missions)
A Stalker's Hide power is good but not invincible. If you think one might be lurking, pop an Insight (yellow/acc) and they may pop into view. Similarly, if you can afford a spare slot for a concealment power, this will help immeasurably in all PVP zones.
ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK: THE SHIVA SHARD RUN
This temp-power acquisition run is very much worth it - although it doesn't award XP of itself. But it does award one of the best temp powers in the game, allowing you to summon the vicious Shivan Decimator as your pet five times. And once it runs out, simply do it again to get more pets! This will be available whatever level you are.
The run is nigh-on impossible for a solo player and a good challenge for most duos, even without sadistic player villains tracking your every move.
Start your mission by talking to a Scientist – bad guys talk to the Evil Scientist at Arachnos Base near the helicopter pad, good guys to the one at the Longbow base near the Skyway exit. They’ll give you a temp power called Core Sampler and your HUD will change to show six empty slots.
Now you need to travel round the island collecting samples from all the meteors (numbered 1-6 in Hindi and marked on your map, though they can be collected in any order). When you approach a meteor, Shivans will spawn to defend it – though it seems Superjumping, Teleporting or Flying over their spawn zone and dropping onto the top of the meteor itself may avoid this.
Using Superspeed, Stealth or Invis may not necessarily help if you tread on the trigger zone around the meteor.
If you want to sprint it/fly to it rather than fending off the Shivans:
- target the meteor before you approach in order to speed up the process
- get on top of the meteor
- activate your Temp power to collect a sample. The sampler power is interruptible, so work fast.
Also, other "normal" spawns of Thorns or Freaks may be hanging around so be careful - you really don't need the aggro.
WARNING: As soon as you collect your first sample, you’ll begin glowing green to let other players know you’ve collected something. If a player defeats another player while carrying a shard, they can steal collected pieces!
Got all six sample icons filled? Good. Now comes the tough part.
The scientist can’t work with unprocessed samples, so you’ll need to fix it up first. Handily, there are several processor stations dotted around the island.
They're not marked on the map, but are easy to find using the /loc command (type it into your chat box to find your current location, then compare it to where you want to be.)

189 63 1218
1700 72 1070
2085 8 -554
2805 -17 -120
Less handily, they’re also heavily defended. Each processor is located in a bunker protected by up to seven turrets – four mini pop-up turrets on the base itself and two or three big turrets nearby.
The nasty part of this is that you can’t use the processor until all of them are down at the same time – and they have a fast re-spawn rate! However, there's no limit to the number of people that can use a processor once the turrets have been beaten.
Once all seven are down, sprint back to the bunker. Note that there are TWO computers in the base – and you need to click on the laptop marked Control Computer before you click on the Ore Processor.
Your six samples will now resolve into one finished sample - WHICH CAN BE STOLEN. Run like hell back to the Freedom Base to claim your prize! (Note: beware of any sneaky Stalkers who may have been hiding in the processor base for such an occasion...)
Each player who makes it back to the Scientist with a fully processed sample will receive Shiva Strike - the ability to summon a Shivan boss monster (Decimator) five times as a pet.
Decimator pets last around five minutes, are tough as nails, have great rad attacks and debuffs and can make short work of practically anything. They're a great asset in a difficult situation, such as AV missions or when you need to distract attention from your ailing team.
Oh, and one other thing... good luck, Hero.
You’re going to need it.
