Up until now Credibility has been something gained for pride, bragging rights, and not to be "Owned by Gwen", a "Loincloth", or a "Spandex Bulge". Well times are changing and thanks to our new business partners we've got an all new something to do with the credibility you've been earning. Nogame, Tiltworks, and I all came to the table with a single question in mind; how do we reward our members for all the hard work they've put into GameAmp and at the same time get new gamers to participate in the community…
We had a few key ideas the first being; how to get free stuff! Everybody loves free stuff, our selves included so we definitely wanted to be able to give stuff away. The next was; how to reward everyone who has already contributed to the community. We didn't want the playing field to be leveled at the start of this new program because so many of you have already been putting hard work into making GameAmp a better place for everyone. We also wanted to add more contests and fun stuff to do on the network and not be giving away credibility for everything. We still wanted to maintain the value of credibility and it's meaning within the community. Credibility should be a system that shows your contribution amount to the community and just participating in a contest or a drawing, while it may be fun, doesn't show that you've contributed to the community.
With all these things in mind, we came up with a really cool system that we think everyone is going to love as much as we do. To start, if you've been following the news you may have guessed by now, we are going to be launching a gamer t-shirt line. This isn't going to be just GameAmp related shirts; this is going to be cool shirts for all gamers. We will of course have GameAmp shirts (Ampy included) but we will be focusing on creating t-shirts that all gamers love regardless of their network affiliation. On top of that, these aren't going to be the same generic one liners with just a white screen print of some text. These shirts are getting bad ass artwork and in full color. All really high quality stuff here, no I-made-these-in-my-garage-shirts. Ok, well we are going to have some plain white one liner shirts but the quality will be top notch and they definitely won't look like they came out of a garage :) SukoshiGamer and a new guy you haven't been privy of witnessing, Hendrix have been creating some of the coolest artwork Nogame and I have ever seen. We can't show you anything quite yet but this stuff looks sick.
Ok, so now back to this system we've created and how you're going to be able to get this stuff free and / or really cheap. To start we're going to have GameAmp Gold. For each point of credibility you earn you will get GameAmp Gold. You can spend your GameAmp Gold towards the purchase of ANY shirts we carry. You won't be able to spend ONLY GameAmp Gold to buy the shirts but you will be able to get gamer apparel of a higher quality available than anywhere else for cheaper than you can buy them from any place else. On top of that we'll also be giving away completely free shirts (any shirt of your choice) from a number of different contest, drawings, and sweepstakes. For example, if you take a picture of yourself or anyone else in your new shirt, hat, or whatever and upload it to the site, you'll automatically be entered into a weekly drawing for a free shirt of your choice. That's a pretty damn good deal.
It goes without saying of course we'll be having a number of other contests and giveaways all the time on GameAmp so we can distribute as many prizes as we can afford. You guys (and girls) are the ones that make GameAmp a place that gamers can come to for help and to feel appreciated for what they do.
Now we won't stop at just shirts and hats but that's a good starting place for us since we know just about everyone wears t-shirts and / or hats. What we do want from everyone is to know; WHAT DO YOU WANT? If there's something that you guys want to see then we'll definitely do our best to create it. We don't want our merchandise to be just another product line. We want you guys to help create it! We want to create whatever the community wants. To start, we're going to be giving away more money for t-shirt ideas than anyone else out there. You might see $100 at most other places or even up to $500 at a couple others (and that's only if you supply the artwork ready to go). How does $1,000 sound? Not enough? How about $10,000? Sounds like a blatant lie right? Well you can earn even more than $10,000 with GameAmp. What we're going to do is give you $101 right up front if we use your idea. That's right, an entire $1 more than the competition :P On top of that, we're going to give you cash for every t-shirt we sell past the first 100. If your design sells 5,000 t-shirts we'll cut you a check in monthly or $100 increments if it sells 50,000 over the next 10 years, you'll keep getting checks every month! We're not sure how much we can afford to give away just yet but stay tuned for more updates. We will make sure the number is something very generous, most likely a percentage of how much each shirt sells for. GameAmp is all about sharing the love.
Ok, so now you're going to be able to buy gamer apparel ridiculously cheap, you'll be able to win a ton of free stuff, AND you'll get ROYALITIES for any of your ideas that we use. Well how do we know what ideas are the good ones and which ones just suck? I'm sure Nogame and I can weed out quite a few but just because we think something's hilarious doesn't mean everyone else does. To remedy this, we're going to let all GameAmp Members vote on the t-shirt ideas. Some of them, if they're good enough, we'll just go ahead and use but if there's an inkling in our mind whether we should make the shirt or not, we're going to put it to the GameAmp Member Test.
So earlier I mentioned something about removing advertising… on top of all these other giveaways we've got going on, we've got one last kicker. If you buy a t-shirt at the regular price, you can remove all the advertising on GameAmp for 6 months. Buy two shirts and remove it all for a year. Buy four, two years… It just keeps stacking! We said we would never make anyone pay for a membership because we've always wanted GameAmp to be free but if we can actually give you something for your money and throw in no advertising as a bonus, why not?! You're going to be buying t-shirts from stores often enough so if you buy one from us, we'll give you something extra :) The other fansites out there will charge you JUST to remove advertising and then throw in a couple extra features that we already offer for free. We want you to get something with substance for your hard earned cash and for helping support GameAmp with your purchase we'll take away the advertising as well.
We are thrilled with the ideas we've come up with and we certainly hope everyone else is as well. Recently, we've had people recommend adding a donation link where members could donate to the site but I've always replied with wanting our members to get something for their hard earned dough. Now we've got a way where you can contribute to GameAmp by actually getting something in return AND you get to remove all the advertising.
As always, stay tuned for more happenings. We're keeping the biggest surprises for last and some of them might be a ways off but we plan on having some cool GameAmp swag as soon as we can :)
