Currently there have been a lot of problems concerning your Global Chat, I am betting. Have no worry fellow heroes, the developers are aware of the problem and trying to fix it. Cricket has made a post concerning this rather annoying bug. Unfortunately, in a nutshell, they are unable to revert the system.
However, comma, they are still currently investigating this nasty little problem. As a measure of defense, after further investigations are completed, they will be doing a backup every 20 minutes.
