Please keep your antivirus up today while browsing on GameAmp and AmpWoW, there is a downloader.exe that symanic sees as a virus, I am not sure what it is but the developers are aware if it and taking care of it immediately. So please be aware of it and keep your anti-virus auto protect up to date and running.
UPDATE! Monday 9/24 Hacker is quelled for now, the sites affected should be fixed. All missing content will be back very soon, within the next few days. Remember to run a virus scan, malware and adware scan, just to be safe. All of these things can be found on the WoW page under Tech Support, Anti-Virus section, links to good freeware are there! If you are having issues logging into the site please delete your cookies and temporary internet files. This should allow you to log in.
Yes, it should be fixed to be safe for all browsers, but it doesn't happen in Opera.
This is similar to an earlier virus problem, it came in a file, where the file had a line that linked to game.exe on another website. Basically, only certain virus scanners, such as AVG picked it up, but it allowed me to figure out the file it was coming from and pass it on the the admins.(this was before I was a mod)
Anyway, I don't know if this doesn't affect firefox, but I know it doesn't affect Opera.....no signs of viruses or downloader.exe anywhere for me.
But as I said earlier, sites shouldn't be safe only when using a specific browser. So, good luck finding and eliminating the threat, devs.
thanks MW and bunny I suppose you two can have PANDA POINTS! I dont do cookies :-P Still IE issues this morning but it did force me to update my firefox version lastnight so I could get my work done! lol.
so @Bunny and @MWPeck
Just so folks know, I think this is related to the Dots on the Main Page. One is an b containing a page that loads the 5cript...and the other is a 5cript tag. Both were somehow added to the main page's source code.
something weird when i logged into site, i got a foreign language loader box, not happened before, when i hear about viruses and code hacked then i get suspicious.
language pack installation
to display language charactors correctly you need
to install the following language pack:
chinese simplified
[] never install any language packs.
[install] [cancel]
i know it looks like and probably is a normal window for downloading language packs, but this is gameamp. not to mention i have never been asked to download any language packs when visiting gameamp ever before.
if this is normal please let me know, i did not agree to it but it has popped up more then once, maybe a site linked ot gameamp requires it, i however do not.
yeah idiot is back again this morning, same exploit, we are working on fixing it.
sorry guyz! keep your antivirus on and it really should be no harm to anyone. dont download anything from the site.
ugh.... stupid haxors go get a life. if your gonna be at the computer do something useful like play a game, but hacking innocent sites? i mean cmon... grow the fick up.
ummm... whenever i type capital letters they become lowercase when posted, is this something new or the little weak in the gene pool loser who has been messing with the site?
its part of the latest from the dumb@rs...fun aint it
deleted some guides on the coh site as well, which we should have restored as soon as this is all taken care of.
just a note that he may or may not essentially have control of a admin account so if you see stuff that really doesnt look like it belongs dont click, dont take it seriously and dont worry it will probably be deleted quickly, but let me know because my account thus far has been safe.
besides capitalization being an issue, apparently submissions arent always getting through either...so umm yeah if you are submitting anything to the wow site i am not seeing any of them. so keep them until after haxzors boy is taken out.
thanks retro, i figured it would make its way over there soon or later. and just know that the last hacker did get persued legally, this one will as well. grudge, no grudge, its still against federal law and he can be fined or put in jail for what he or she is doing.
