An easy way to lessen lag spikes is:
go into the options screen
in the graphics section
on the graphics quality is a slider
change the slider to the performance setting
save and close window
I did this and it has lessoned the lag in game without having to change any of the Windows (operating system) settings. Knowing this I wont have to look up any of the guides anymore on ways to lesson the lag I experience in game.
